I see where a Dutch entrepreneur is accepting names for a proposed one-way
trip to Mars ! Already , something like 180,000 wannabes from 120 countries ( including 35 Canadians ) are looking to be one the four " lucky " people chosen . So , if I apply ( not ) and get chosen , what scale trains can I run on Mars ? Yes , Mike , I already know your vote

I'd have to say large scale due to less gravity. However, I'm not sure what sort of electrical contact problems you'd have with all that red dust on the rails!

Actually T I agree with Ed, big and heavy to combat the lower gravity, maybe #1 gauge? By the way T, we will miss you.

I think it's "backa..wards" - I'd take a smaller scale....Why..?? Inertia (the value of mass x speed)... The quantity of mass doesn't change whether you're here or in Mars, so a body in motion will have the same inertia in both places when operated at the same speed, and the train would go flying off the rails on a curve...To operate safely you would have to operate at a slower speed.
I think.....

Does anyone really think they'll waste VERY valuable space on the space ship to Mars for ANY kind of model trains? LOL
