there has to be a better way

I was going to do a thread about an operations scenario on my layout. The only way I see to do it would be a one by one upload of pictures and text. I have it written in word including pictures but there is no way to post it internally to link to. I could upload it to my web site and link to it but this just seems to be the hard way, and not everyone has a web site.
I won't post pictures with a third party account because I have seen too many empty boxes with photos missing. I also think the five pictures in a post at a time upload rule is no longer a good thing when really there are no limits to the number of total pictures. If you want to post more you add another post which at times ruins the continuity of the post.
At the very least could we select more than one picture at a time for the picture uploads? I have selected and uploaded up to 400 at a time with yahoo and google plus.

There's some restrictions in the software that we have no control over. I get upset when I'm trying to upload four or five photos to a post and can only do them one at a time. If there was a way to do batch uploads we would enable that function but there isn't. Nope I know you can batch upload to many photo -sharing sites, but I'm not sure if vBulletin allowed for that either, I'll check just to satisfy my curiosity. Even then, we have no plans on changing software; the consequences of that are too harsh to even think about. So unless phpBB adds that function, we are stuck with the way things are.

As far as the restriction of only five attachments per post, we have some control over that, but it was put in place to make a post more readable. There are posts here with linked photos of much more than five photos and that is a lot to digest in one gulp. The restriction was also put there to help those that have a slow Internet connection can view the post without waiting sometimes minutes for the photos to load. I know, there aren't too many that still are on dial-up or some other slow connection, but even with a high speed connection, sometimes things download slower that one would like.

I can understand your reluctance to link to something like Photobuckets, but one thing you could do Charlie is to upload to our gallery and then link to there in you post.

I think the PHPBB software may support attachments
is that what the forum uses?

I was moving pictures from one group to a new one. Goldth
You can upload a bunch at a time to Google Plus too, but it won't take word documents. I find it interesting how low tech the techies want to keep things at times.

I would have to have a 5 step program 2.2 times Goldth

I am very glad to know I am not the only one to see the benefit of adding more than one picture at a time

I'll mention this to Packey, but we have a number of mods right now and every time we need to update, he needs to reinstall each mod. Some of them require manually changing up to 25 different files, so he's not that keen on adding any new mods because of that and the inherent risks involved with these mods, ie: system crashes.... Yeah, there is, but at one point it didn't matter, the software ignored that limit. I don't know right now if that has been fixed or not. That only applies to direct uploads, there can be as many links as you want.
