This happened the last day of PennCentral. 3/31/1976, New Galilee, Pa. It took out the half of this house. There was a man asleep on the couch in the destroyed house. He wasn't injured.                              Charlie

Those are some neat stock cars on the front of that train!  Surprised no one has made them in HO yet.

I've been trying to find photos of those long stockcars, but no luck so far.  Given the date on the photo, I'm guessing that those cars didn't last too long, as railroads were phasing out the transport of livestock.

I was going to buy a couple of these livestock cars....

   

...but the data printed on them (at that time) indicated that they were too new for my late '30s-era layout.  As you can see in the photo above, though, they're now perfectly suited for my layout's timeframe.  Hopefully, I'll drop-in at Montoursville sometime this summer, to pick up a couple of them.

Hi Doc---that stock car reminded me of one of our trips to visit Charlie and friends far too long ago---lucky for me I picked up one of those cars during a shopping stop in Montoursville.
