4 years ago along the newly laid line toward Logansport, Pa. Delivering enough rail to lay the last 5 miles.

The current standard rail length is 72 feet, is that right? When did this change from 39? Also, who owns the loco in that shot?

Will that rail be laid with joint bars, or will it be welded after it's laid?
Charlie, did this rail get welded or traditionally bolted. All along the former Lackawanna main near my home the DL has been replacing sections of worn rail and welding it together eliminating the mechanical splices.

My other car is a locomotive, ARHS restoration crew
This rail was 115 pound RE rail (brand new) (80 foot lengths) and was welded on site. It was installed on steel ties.
The locomotive was owned by the Kiski Junction Railroad, a former WSOR unit number 752, now a Youngstown and Southeastern locomotive.
This is what it looked like during tamping.      Unfortunately the mine is idled due to the EPA rulings on coal.  There are over 40 million tons of coal left.[attachment=19268]

November 3, 1976. East Palestine, Ohio Prr has been gone for 8 years but this unit survived.     Charlie
On November 3, 1984 the Pacific Railroad Society ran an excursion from Los Angeles to Barstow using Amtrak equipment. This ran on the then-ATSF Third District of the LA Division, via Fullerton, when at the time the Amtrak trains (Southwest Chief and Desert Wind) normally ran via the Second District via Pasadena.

The trackside views in northern Orange County still had citrus groves:
