2/11/1979, South of the overhead highway bridge in West Pittsburgh, Pa. This is on the old P&LE, the tracks to the right go from the Chessie yard to the P&LE main and tie in just behind this spot, and the track higher up is the P&W that runs over to Elwood and points east. It wyes at Eidenau, Pa, one leg going toward Pittsburgh and the other goes to Salamanca NY. The B&P Railroad has control of the line from West Pittsburgh to Salmanca, and the Allegheny Valley has the line from Eidneau to Pittsburgh.     Charlie

Lincoln's Birthday, 1978. CR 3640 leads an eastbound mixed freight into the Rochester interlocking. There are trains lined up waiting for the dog catcher on number 1 track all the way back to New Galilee, Pa, 20 miles to the west. This guy got lucky and got to go around them. The temperature was below zero and from experience I can tell you the cabs were not comfortable when it was that cold.

2/13/2007 Warming up for a trip to Bagdad to pick up the loads. Schenley, Pa The snow was beautiful, and it was nice to be the first up the track, but I don't miss it one bit.
