I got two old Athearn Blue Box BN SW1000 and BN SW1500 dummies. They shall join my powered BN SW1500.
Problem is I need remove the shell from the drive. How to do? I am afraid to use brutal force. I rocks but it does not open
I assume I have to press or spread the shell at a specific location? Where is that point?

If the old BB SW's are like the old BB GP-9(7, 35), you have to gently pull the shell away from the fuel tank on both sides at the same time. There are pins cast into the fram that go through the shell.

Thanks for the quick help.
This is reason why I had to ask. I got two dummies to be paired with powered SW1500. The 21 and 22 on the read track got a sibling.
It was the first time I got a blue box dummy. The wheels are of plastic. I replaced them with standard Athearn axils. They will be required anyhow when LEDs are installed. Some of the clips holding the couplers are missing and I mounted the coupler packets "as usual". That was a failure. They need to be mounted a tad higher. Need to do the windows too but have only one set left....
One handrail wire was missing. I made a new one from scratch and thought about American fathers at about my age how often did you do new handrails from wire when your son has damaged one. Those old blue box models are the perfect family models. Dad can really fix problems. Todays Dads don't look so good when the iPad got belly up

"Remove the shell" from
what drive? You said they were dummies, so they don't have a drive, right? 8-)
