The Big Blue 2015-2016 Pizza Box Challenge
#1
It’s been a while since we had a challenge. Mountaingoat Greg came up with an idea of making a small scale diorama in a reasonably small space. We wanted to make it viable in all scales, so i took his idea and thought of a 2 car challenge.

So here's the idea; Take any 2 cars, maintenance of way equipment, or any combination of 2 railroad items that are mobile. Snow plows?? Rail Gooses?? Hand Cars??? Anything at all that would normally be seen on the rails. Put 2 of them in your scene and then build around them. Post your intentions and progress in a separate thread, then at the end of the challenge, we'll have a vote to see who got the most done while doing what they said they would.

Be specific, but keep it simple so that you can keep your commitment. Also note that we are allowing you to enter multiple projects, just that you must finish one before you start another one.

Remember, the intent of this challenge is to create a simple scene, 2 main items and a few background or foreground items . Pick something, do it, and pick something else if you want , and do it as well.

The Rules:

1. Choose a scale... Yes, you are allowed to model in ANY scale!!!! Choose an area from the following list:
  • HO and Smaller 12" X 12" or 18" X 18"
  • HO and larger 18" X 18" or 24" X 24" (Larger is acceptable)

2. You can enter any project that you feel like modeling. Any concept within reason. (UFO's, Fires, Train Wrecks, Manufacturing etc.). Just about anything goes as long as it’s related to model railroading, but you have to tell us at the beginning, what you plan to do!

3. If you're working on a club or friend’s layout, those projects are also acceptable.

4. Start a thread in this forum, "Your Screen Name, 2015 Pizza Box Challenge," and describe your project in the first post.

5. You can open your thread at any time before the official starting date, which gives you enough time to decide on what you want to do. You are also free to start a project at any time before the end of this challenge

6. Tell us what you intend to do as part of your challenge and let us know what scale you are working in. As usual, provide us with lots of pictures of your progress.

7. If, before the end of this challenge, you complete your project, you may start a new one. Try to do two or three simple projects rather than one big one. You will then be judged on your individual projects.

8. Because we never give away anything of value away, this challenge is open to all registered members of the Big Blue Train Forum, including the staff.

9. This challenge is all about your project, you can have help, but you must do a substantial amount of the work yourself. You or someone else can take the photos.

The challenge starts on September 26, 2015 and will run until January 17, 2016. A poll will open after that date, so that we can pick a winner.

As usual, there are no real prizes, just bragging rights and a certificate from Big Blue showing that you won one of the top three spots.

Please post any questions or comments regarding this challenge here in this thread and we will attempt to resolve any issues here before the challenge starts. Do not post your challenges here, start an individual new thread for each one you enter.

Everyone finish their challenges when ever you have the time. The next Challenge will be a Photo Challenge, probably in a month or 2.
