EBT boxcar red?
#1
Looking for information on a color match for the red used by the EBT on their boxcars. Paints suggested by my F&C kit are no longer available. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Mark

What color was the originally suggested red paint?

Maybe I have it, and it would help find a match. I quickly googled the EBT just now, but it doesn't seem very different from a darkened boxcar red.

F&C recommends Floquil's boxcar red "slightly lightened" with reefer white. Or Accu-paint's oxide brown part# AP-12. I have the boxcar red and reefer white in Polly Scale(which BTW I still miss very much). But, boxcar reds differ between manufacturers. Scalecoat has three boxcar reds for the PRR, itself. I know Tru-colors has a bunch of boxcar reds now, too.

Thanks for the offer Chris. I'd like to see if anyone who may on this site that models the East Broad Top has come up with as a color match before I go into the laboratory and start mixing up colors.

Have a look at Tru Color Paints as they have many RR colors. If they don't have EBT they may have it soon as they are always adding new ones. And their web site has color charts. You can also call or email them:

Another EBT fan! I grew up in that neck of the woods and have always loved Old Easty. From what I understand, the prototype frequently used whatever was close enough in color and was readily available and on-hand, so anything you have that's close should be fine.
