We went out to see this today -- they'll be destroying it and filling it in shortly.
This is a corduroy road ("The corduroy road goes Bumpety-Bump.") dating from the early 1800s. It was exposed during construction of Kitchener-Waterloo's new streetcar line.
The corduroy road was made by laying logs across the road. This area was originally swamp and the road was built by a fellow who had a mill.

Interesting how much higher the road surface has become over 150 years.

In model railroading, there are between six and two hundred ways of performing a given task.
Most modellers can get two of them to work.

A few pics of #26 as she gets ready to pull out with the yard shuttle. It was nice to smell coal smoke in Steamtown once again.
