Looking again, you've a GP,2 X 60',2 X 50' in the fiddle yard, if you have to pull JB and the Bulkhead will you have enough head room where the black line is( GP, 2 x bulkheads, 2 x 50'), bulkheads are usually longer than 60', or are you going to run shorter trains

What's the scale length of a bulkhead? And then centrebeam? In inches

50' bulks will be ok, other centre beams vary between 9"-11", don't have any to big for my layout

The Atlas center partition car I have is 11 1/8" which is about 80 scale feet long

I like your revised track plan Andy, however, by moving the bottom spur further to the left you reduce the number of cars which can be pulled and shoved into the spur in one movement.

I've looked at all the scenarios, lots of room for them all to move in and out of JBV! I'd never pull a 80ft + 80FT plus 50ft+50ft anyway even if I did have them that big. Only bring 4 cars onto the layout so cant drag everything out anyway. This would be switched max 4 in and 4 out or less each session. Not ideal for some but fine for me, worked great on my last layout.
I like y slight "S" bend, happy with that too as I want a straight fiddle yard...
I've also found a good option for the far left hand industry (against the wall) with help from Ed, Higgins Premium Pet Food (reversed) and yes I know they are found in Miami but I might not use CSX and thats why its Freelance (mix and match)
Mal what gap did you have between you rails and the sides of the structures in you concrete canyon?
I'm actually very happy with how this has evolved. Its a great base for a layout and Alcanman and Lance proved that.

I try to have a minimum of 2 inches each side of the rails. Enough to be able to 'fiddle' cars / loco on and off the layout.

Thanks Mal, luckily I don't need to set the trains out between the buildings like you did but I think 2 inches is a good looking gap!!
Does anyone know what a realistic amount of space each side of a bulkhead flat would be or a center beam. Obviously a CB would need to be offloaded from both sides and I believe a Bulkhead can be offloaded form one side only.

I guess it all depends on the length of lumber your offloading

The ideal size would be 16' plus room for a truck trailer 16' gives the forklift operator room to work. In some tight areas the unloading area may be as small as 12 foot which is enough room for a skilled operator to back up make his turns from CB to truck-assuming a transload track is used. At a lumber company the unloading area would be part of the yard so there is lots of room... The CB must be unloaded evenly or the CB will tip.
A bulkhead can be loaded/ unloaded from either side.
BTW..CB can be as short as 60' or as long as 73 '.

Interesting. I assumed it would be unloaded the same as a centerbeam.
A couple of other load suggestions for the walthers Canadian bulkhead is Sheetrock/gyproc and plate steel. The gyproc loads were wrapped in plastic to keep it dry.

I have at least 3 inches on the sides to offload, should be fine then for even a centrebeam,
