I just bought the kit at a model train sale in Ottawa Ontario. Has anyone here built it yet? any tips?
it is a 5 car set, i was wondering if i could run as it 3 car set due tot he fact my layout is kind of small and not a lot of room on it
I am looking forward to building it, just have to buy some containers now
thanks in advance for the tips

I liked the kits, they have decent details on them. I recently sold all my Maxi-III's that were Athearn Blue Box kits thought just because i like the RTR ones better.
They can also be run as a 3 car unit if desired, just have to leave out 2 of the middle cars....

well thanks. I never thought i would get into thhese container trains but the prices was right and I thought it would be fun to build the kits
I need soemthing to do at night, while the gf is way at school for another year .....
I have started to build the cars. very interesting, a few peoblems.
1) anyone have a a picture they could send of their athearn kits built? showing the end car and one middle car, need to make sure I put the details in the right place, I am not really sure, the atearn diagram leaves a little to be desired for my liking.
2) the 5 car train takes up my longest siding plus a little more it is a large train for my layout but I will shorten it to 3 car trains when running it in the switch yard.
I like it a lot so far, never thought i would liek container ttrains. now if i had a large layout i would get another set or two or single car units. it looks good
in my opinion anyways
