I'm going to set something up tomorrow with the mine and such. I am still in the planning stages of the layout. I have been doing a ton of research and have pictures saved of the line from google earth especially the yard at Mine 33 so I can have the same amount of tracks etc etc. If everything works out the way it's supposed to, I am looking to start getting the bench work together this spring.

Did a little set up in the living room this evening and did some switching duties. Below are the pictures I had taken and it ran smoothly but not like it would have if it was set up on the kitchen table.

1st picture - Caboose sitting on the mainline waiting for the train to be loaded and built

2nd picture - Looking up from the mine track to the mainline and seeing Caboose #54 sitting there

3rd picture - #37 with #34 ( out of frame ) pulling two loaded hoppers out from under the mine while #36 is pushing empties down the middle track to be loaded

4th picture - View of all three engines working

5th picture - #45 on the mainline with a string of empties bound for the mines

Side note: I can't wait until this summer to begin construction of this line. This was just too much fun for me this evening doing this.

Late night putting decals on.

Started to put the numbers on Boxcar # X127. I've noticed anything that had an X in front of the number was used by the MOW crews. So the wrecking crane was X123, snow spreader X121 etc etc. The other mow equipment like the speeders and handcarts all had a single number with no letter in front of the number.

I just had to order some more decals to finish it. I didn't realize I ran out of the railroad logo and a few other decals.

Today the decals arrived in the mail. They were only letters but I was able to letter two MOW equipment pieces. Boxcar X127 & Flatcar X116

I am waiting for a few more decals to arrive so I can put the company logo on the boxcar.

The flatcar is the closest to being placed into service. I need to add a few things to it so that it can haul the Speeder, Pushcarts, & Handcarts.

Thank You Tom, I was a little scared at first but after a few cars I started to relax.

To change pace for a little bit from the C&I, here we have a future V&O ( Virginian & Ohio ) caboose in the works. It looks like the letters are not straight and it was driving me crazy thinking they were not, but they are straight. I had to blink a few times to get my vision back to "normal" and I am satisfied with the lettering so far.

Did a little more on the caboose. I guess my eyes weren't the best because my fiance looked and guess what, they are crooked. So I waited and then looked, well she was right so I got them as straight as possible.

Doing decals does take a steady hand and a sharp eye. Looks like you've got that down pretty good.

I remember years ago there was a reasonably priced printer that printed with white ink so you could make your own white decals, I wonder what ever happened to those. I see now where they're price in the many thousands.

Yes I can agree that it does take a steady hand and sharp eye especially when you are putting on multiple letters like the caboose above. The C&I stuff is easy and hasn't given me any trouble.

It has crossed my mind to find the decal sheets and a program to make my own but I wouldn't know where to start looking. I really can't complain where I get my decals from as I don't think they are badly priced.

While doing some more research I have noticed that it looks like there was boney piles around the former Mine 33 site ( even though it was a newer mine at the time ) but I can't be for certain. So instead of my trying to model boney piles I am taking a different approach to this and I'm going to add a small fleet of gondola cars to the roster. The small fleet I have is an assortment of different types so not all are the same capacity and such. Below is one of the gondola's that will be added to the roster in the near future.

I got this gondola when I purchased the huge track lot back in January this year and it is missing two steps on the one side. That I can deal with as it will only be used for hauling boney and no workers will be climbing on them, so there is no need to "have" them. LOL

These projects will be started soon as the V&O Caboose is on hold while I wait for the caboose decals to get here. The decals that arrived in the mail on Saturday were for the boxcar that way it could be finished. I'm including a picture of this finished boxcar as well.

That's all for tonight as it is late.........

Well last night and today have been a somewhat busy day for me. I moved from the living room coffee table to the kitchen today as it is easier to work on the stuff. I have a small layout setup on the table so I can test out the cars that I am pulling out of storage. I also found telephone poles that I apparently bought awhile back and forgot about. I have glued them together and all 18 are drying along with two other accessories.

I also have one gondola ready for decals. It is a former D&RGW and is painted orange. I am not repainting it as it will give some color to the railroad. It's going to be strictly used for boney service only. I have a couple other gondola's that will be striped of decals and painted orange as well. Some will say orange is for MOW service but not on my railroad.

There is also a building that is being put together and modified a little bit as it will be used as a parts storage building for the railroad. I have pieces cut for pole supports for the dock.

I also including what I have set up on the kitchen table lol.
