Hi Tom---those Fairbanks Morse Trainmaster locomotives were impressive. In Canada the Canadian Locomotive Works produced these diesels for both the Canadian Pacific and Canadian National Railways. The CPR was a big customer but the CNR purchased only one of these units---#2900.This locomotive was used in both freight and passenger service and ended it's career on the ore docks in Fort William Ontario. The 2900 was not equipped with a steam generator so a steam generating car was required for passenger service during the fall, winter and early spring seasons. This locomotive is one of the local railfans favourite catches.
