We traveled to Des Monies to visit the Iowa State Fair Friday and Saturday for little nostalgia and fun. We haven't lived in Iowa since 1982. It was a good time that was highlighted by finding the Central Iowa Model Railroad Club's large layout on the fairgrounds. I didn't think to take my camera along but I found a YouTube video some one else filmed of the layout so you can see what it looks like. Parts are still under construction but the majority is finished and well done. I was talking to one of the club members and, after he learned I'm a molder, he invited inside the display area to see parts of the layout most of the public doesn't get to see. He was also the guy who built that amazing steel trestle scene featured in the video . They were a very welcoming bunch of guys.
