Yes, the tank car has a slight bow in the middle. It is a funnel flow tank car. The entire tank is slightly lower in the middle. Like a funnel, the contents flow towards the lowest point ensuring faster, more complete unloading. Maybe the cars you’ve seen in person were all normal (straight) tank cars ... or you need some new glasses?
