Yes, TT is coming from “Table Top” and was invented in USA by Hal Joyce in 1945. The strange thing is that TT-scale is almost unknown in US today, but it is the most popular scale (together with HO) in Russia and Eastern Europe. The main producer of tracks and rolling stock is a company, named Tillig from Germany, but there are many others that producing almost everything in 1:120 scale. I don’t know are there TT-scale producers in US, but there are TT modelers for sure in the TTnut web forum.
