What and When was your best Christmas Present ..EVER ?
#10
This year I recounted the (or rather admitted) my tale to my family about the year that I received an Imperial Walker "AT-AT". I so desperately wanted one of those things for a couple of years ever since the movie came out in the theaters. When I saw the toy version of it I'd beg my parents to get one for me. I'd honestly given anything to have one. It was not cheap at the time either, I was around 8 years old and the cost was about $50.00 dollars if I remember correctly. Hasbro saw me coming a mile away I tell ya.

The year I received one, I remember noticing a fairly large box under the tree a couple weeks before the big day. I remember the anxiety trying to figure out if this was the year I'd finally get one eyeing up the suspiciously large box. It was then that hatched my diabolical scheme. When no one was around I grabbed by 12 in/30 cm grade school wooden ruler (I brought it home just for this reason) and carefully measured the length, width and height of the box. I wrote the measurements down and stored the paper in my nightstand. Later that very week, I tagged along while my mom went shopping at the local Consumer's Distributing (anyone remember those?). I brought with me my trusty ruler as my mother placed her order at the counter. On one of the display shelves in the store the object of my desires sat. So I measured it and memorized the dimensions in my head. Much to my excitment when I got home the measurements were exactly the same.

It was pretty hard to be shocked on the morning of the 25th. But I still tried real hard to look excited! Wink

My mother had no idea I had done this and when I told her she looked at me, laughed and said, "You little bugger, you!"
