We are just a small operation, 5.2 miles of track here in Schenley, Pa.
We service one customer currently, a Specialty steel mill in Bagdad, Pa.
We also do a scenic train in the summer and of course we do the Snowdog Express at Christmas.
I am full time and I have 2 part time employees. We also have 11 volunteers ranging in age from 18 to 78, all but 2 over 55 years old, and 3 70 or older. (these 70 year old guys can replace 20 ties in 3 hours the old fashioned way).
We use the S-1 in the summer for the passenger trains, and use the 752 in the winter. That way I can get out of service credits for each one for the inspections. We do as much of the work here as we can and we have very good track and nice clean equipment. The guys pride themselves in this.
We will be constructing another 7 miles of track in the near future to service a coal mine.
