Juniata managed to paint her and have her outside before the Chattanoga shops. Juniata is still holding up to its name for sure. Now which place would you rather have paint the locomotives?
Quality, not quantity... Goldth In all fairness to the Tenn. fellows, the Conrail job is one color, and vinyl lettering and vinyl logos. the Southern scheme is at least 2 colors, and it takes time for paint to dry enough for the additional masking, as well as time to paint. The Conrail unit was probably in Altoona sooner too.

Southern has 3 colors-Black hood,a thin gold stripe and a white band that wraps around the locomotive..Even the green scheme had the gold stripe and white band around the engine..

Conrail has two colors..A blue body, black trucks, fuel tank and pilot. In CR's last days many locomotives had a white frame stripe.
