Charlie, I have done that trick on a layout my dad and I had in the past, though it was to make a highway look longer . Might do that on here too .

Torikoos, it was the patched engines that made the merger years so colorful for the UP .
UPDATE:
Well, I bought 3 4x8 sheets of hardboard, cut them in half and it gave me enough background to do all three sides of the layout I haven't put it all up yet but its all painted, I set a couple pieces up on the layout just to see how it will look, my lighting is a bit wonky as I us different lighting thought the layout :? , but I'll deal with it, by the time I airbrush in the clouds and add scenery it should work out fine.
Anyone like Wisconsin and Southern? , I pulled out and ran my WS engines tonight .....
