Wow, thank-you all! Pete and Jim I am truly honoured by your comments.
Lynn, I love the scenery materials they have at Scenic Express. I've also used the Silflor Cow Pastures grass matt for larger fields and it looks amazing! I notice they've added some new products: Buffalo Grass tufts which have multiple heights of grass in the same tuft, and Goldenrod Weeds which I am definitely going to have to try.
cheers

Well Val with the state of the economy and being laid off I think I'm going to try to make some the old fashioned way.

Thanks Josh, that's a neat tip. Too bad we don't have any stuffed toys around here anymore, but for those who do, it's a great way to recycle.
Matt, thanks for the compliment. All it takes is a little practice and the right tools. It doesn't seem that long ago that I was having a horrible time gluing the railings to a tank car kit. Someone suggested tweezers and wow - what a breakthought that was. I have to chuckle when I think of some of the kits I've botched over the years.
cheers

Thanks a lot Nick and Josh! So glad you guys like what I'm doing.
I'm waiting on some parts for the benzol plant tanks, so I decided to add a set of stairs to the ore bridge crane. I couldn't really find clear pictures showing how it was attached, so I guessed. I used Walthers modern fire escapes for the stairs -- they fit pretty well, and I only had to remove 2 steps to get the right height.
I'm not sure about that platform hanging in mid-air. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
cheers

That looks GREAT val!!
I think that the open platform in the middle is okay. I would think that this stair case would pretty much support its self from top to bottom?

the stairs look fine val,but i would run some small i beams out to it from the crane,i dont think stair cases like that are meant to be self supporting,it looks good though

Wow! The stairs look so delicate compared to the rest of the structure of the bridge crane! Those are the kind of details that end up super-glued to my thumb.

That looks great Val. As for supports, can you run some form of structure or beams from the top down? Kind of like a suspension set up.

Very nicely done Val, the stairs must have been a bit tedious, were they in pieces and had to be assembled one step at a time or in one piece?
