Mal,
I liked the old layout a lot, but I like this track arrangement even more. Although the runaround would make sense on a larger layout, I like the idea of a few industries that the train shoves into to spot the tracks. This allows for better switching opportunities and freight car variety.
Thank you for sharing!!

Agreed!!
These layouts are what 90% of the guys should be building. There are far too many guys who see the double track scenic layouts that fill a basement and dream of them, never starting anything due to the fact that honestly those are unrealistic for 99% of individual modelers!
I wonder what would happen to the industry is more guys believed in achievable goals with smaller easier layouts that can be built and rebuilt at a lower cost in a spare room or corner of a basement. Not to say they one day couldn't grow the layout and have the full basement dream. I just think too many guys sit on the outside too afraid to commit and the task seems too huge and a lot of those that do start leave due to unrealistic dreams. Sad. ,....and that's a topic for a totally different thread!!

Excellent modeling work and some very nice photography to capture it. Good luck with the project and hope to see more photos.

Thanks. I dropped off the runaround and added a spur to create more operational interest. The track plan is similar to my old 'CSX Palmetto Spur' layout which was the most fun and interesting of all my small layouts to operate.
Here are a few more pics.

Very cool!.I´m building a layout inspired by Mindheim´s books and now I'm doing scenery, don´t want to use static grass, what products did you use to do scenery on your layout?

Thanks. I normally use static grass, however, due to own clumsiness my Noch Grassmaster is currently out of action.
I decided to use grass mats, Heki #1575 and #1576 (as recommended by Lance Mindheim) and also Noch grass mat (Meadow 6mm) together with grass tufts from Silflor/Mininatur
I like to use a mixture of textures. I'm quite happy with the results and don't think I'll replace the Grassmaster.

To be honest, the mix of different grass mats seems to be much more random and realistic than using static grass...

I'm planning on only using Heki and WS mats, no point in a Gras Master for such a small layout.
Mal, what vehicles are you using (brand and model) I see in the last 2 years some of the detailed ones I had have all been discontinued, especially the ford F150/250 duallys and trucks!!

I only have a few vehicles on the layout. I do like the modern autos from River Point Station http://www.riverpointstation.com/pages/vehicles.html
They are very nicely detailed.
Possibly a little too modern for your layout. This one is a 2007 Ford Expedition.

Thanks Mal,
I had a few of those in the super cab and crew cabs and gave them away basically with my last layout, now I see they are discontinued or selling for $100 on eBay!!!!

Who would be the best to pre-order from? Walters or direct from RPS?
