New Westbrook
#1
'New Westbrook' is a re-build of my small New England switching layout 'Westbrook' which was built a couple of years ago.

As the images seem to have disappeared from my original thread, here are a couple of pics

The large silo structure remains along with the warehouse, reduced in size. The run around has gone, however, one track now is used as a spur to receive clay slurry cars for the paper mill.

For comparison, here is the new track plan (old track plan below)

Are both middle tracks for tank car unloading, how will you shuffle your inbounds and outbounds? The lower of the 2 should be a drill track (if its not already)

My mistake I just realized your lower most track on the new plan does not say Transload

Here's a pic showing Guilford SD26 #623 switching clay slurry tank cars at the new spur.

and the 623 entering the 'urban canyon' at the right hand end of the layout.

Latest power to arrive at New Westbrook is Alco C424 #70, an Atlas model with factory fitted ESU Loksound. Superb sound and motor contol.

A great new layout. I needed some time to understand it is the new one. A nice idea to build similar layout again.

Nice looking setup you have there. How long does it typically take to run a session?

Thanks guys.

Operating sessions usually last a relaxing 30 mins to 1 hour.

Here's a video showing switching action at New Westbrook. Only lasts 4 minutes, a much condensed version of a normal switching session.

I'll be watching this... Your layouts are simply awesome and just prove you don't nee tons of track and space to have something great to look at and oppertate for 45min. I don 't have hours to switch, the aim is to turn it on, switch some spots and be done in 30-60 min... Applause

Hi Callum. Thanks for the kind comments.

The aim of my videos is to show that one loco, a few cars and 3 or4 spurs/industries can provide plenty of fun for a short switching session.

With regard to the uncoupling shown on the videos, I either set the kadees to the 'delayed' uncoupling position or simply edit out the 'big hand in the sky'.

I'll be following your layout build as your track plan looks just right to me.
