I tend to agree with Andrew, attach the industry spurs to the main lines making them work in such a way that you have an interesting/challenging yet workable switching opportunity for each then meet up the main lines. On a side note the first thoughts that come to our crazy model railroad minds is we want two trins meeting or passing each other on seperate rails going in opposite directions where as I have many others have found that a single meandering main line with a strict time table brings greater realism to the railline than a double track.
