Hedley Junction
Wow,
That´s a nice looking structure....and great work to the shingle scribing...it looks like Tamiya masking tape?

Great work on the layout,too.

That's a good-looking station, Matt, and the brackets at the eaves are a nice (and very typical) detail. Applause Applause It's one of those "I'm sure I've seen the prototype of that station somewhere in my travels." kind of things.

Thanks! The only problem is I didn't make enough bracket for the rear wall... I could live without them BUT I know I'll feel bad about it someday! Icon_lol

This particular station is relatively famous for having been a railfan spot in the 1950s. It's on the cover of Thomas Grumley's book on Quebec Railway Light and Power.

I'm very familiar with that feeling, Matt. I had to get over it, though, as most of the structures on my layout have only three modelled walls. Most of them do have a rear wall, but it's totally devoid of any detail. Misngth Misngth

Thabks for the kind comments!

Wayne, well, my conscience forced me to detail the rear wall... Nope

Here's the final result after a very interesting weathering process (mainly done with diluted oil washes and full strength oil paint). Sorry about the broken window in the door... anything can happen when you work on an old building! Goldth

Finally, I resumed working on scenery. The last time Hedley Junction got some scenic treatment was back in 2012.

Now I'm working from the staging area and will progress along the track until I reach Ciment St-Laurent plant. It took me about 5 hours to get this result but now I have a better idea of the recipe and will be faster next time.

Material used are celluclay, latex paint, static grass, dirt, shreaded dry plants, ground foam, crushed oak leaves and lots of diluted PVA glue.

Looking nice! Infact this thread had me buying Atlas GP40-ws like crazy. To stir it up, I got my Atlas U23b in 0-scale this week. Some 5 years after I ordered it! I have started to actually build a H0-scale layout and this thread has been highly insprational. I guess I will also make a 0-scale switching layout too...

Thanks guys!

About 6 feet of new scenery done this weekend + a river. I'm in the process of building a road and side walks to complete the scenery near the staging end. A new backdrop will have to be painted too.

I was following your blog for updates on your layout and it is nice to see the entire story presented here. I'm very impressed with your modeling and design work and I am going to have to find the time to read the entire thread.

Thanks for your comment. Indeed, the layout evolved greatly from the original concept many years ago. It wasn't always easy decisions to take and some took years to implement, but it worked in the end.

Now with some power poles:
