"squealers" Big Grin Wink Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin

Sight of those makes me want to finish building an A-B-A set of "re-worked" Athearn hustlers.

Just like the tour ship, "HANDRAILS" Eek There's about a month of brass rod cutting, fitting, soldering to do there Eek Eek
Maybe it's time to combine the two projects, and do nothing but solder handrails, for a month. Icon_twisted Icon_lol Wink Icon_twisted

Ed,

Here's 459 before it's nose was chopped at Durand Glass in Millville, NJ April of 2005.

I've been doing some terra - engineering in the basement.

The hillside behind my Allentown yard now has grown a tree or two, up until last Friday It was just a baron wasteland.

This first shot is from above the Lehigh river looking south. The CNJ yard is on the other side of the river behind you and the LV main is just out of sight behind the SH&D tracks.

Now looking from the east end of the yard near Bethlehem westward. The CNJ branch to Easton sneaks through the gap between the mountains.

Here is a view of the same yard from above Easton looking west. Apparently Pennsylvania is about to be taken over by invaders from outer space.

A look down the CNJ branch towards Allentown.

I have also started the rough work on the section of the layout representing Bath PA. Hercules cement is around the corner to the left and the western end of the yard in Allentown is to the right. The box cars to the right are sitting on the B&E trackage that tunnels through the mountain to Easton.

My other car is a locomotive, ARHS restoration crew

I originally tried to go that route but ran into similar issues. I tried the Ernst gearing, but I never liked the way it ran and the whole set up. So I tried something different. I used half an Athearn truck and hooked up a can motor to it for a drive train. I added a lot of weight to aid traction, along with a thin coat of silicone on the two drive wheels to give this critter some traction. It runs smoothly and can haul a few cars around. I use the second unit as a dummy which houses the decoder and act as extra electrical pickup. I may add the same drive train to the dummy unit for even more power.

I haven't posted to the gauge in years, but here's a scene on my HO layout you might enjoy. More shots of the layout and other projects I'm working on can be seen here: http://weatheringman.tumblr.com/

May be, the song of the Swedish pop group ABBA will help you a little bit (if you like it): "Waterloo"

Have you tried an automatic sniper service like www.Hidbid.com ? They give you up to 10 snipes a week, and it pretty much shoots your bid in at the last second for you. It rarely fails.

It really makes a difference too! It keeps the price down, and personally, it makes me less anxious and less prone to get in a bid war. If you don't want the item, you can cancel the snipe at anytime.
