cnw1961 Wrote:Lynn, good to see new pic of your layout. The wharf and the structures around your little harbor are simply awesome. I especially like the coloring of the deck of your wharf, did you do it with india ink? How do you want to fill your harbor with "water"?
Hi Kurt , yep I used alch\ind some boards darker than others. I plan on filling the wharf with rocks sand and oh ya water LOL . I just got envirotex in the mail.
Thanks alot from everyone else , the compliments are always a good payday for all the work , ah did I say work , well the hobby you know. Cheers
I've been working on the new hill and tunnel between shifts. I got a couple retaining walls built along with portals , both in place now. I used quite a bit of ground goop under the ground fall and will need to plant some trees and start building the hill upward for the 3 different buildings. I hope to get the rail put into place and bridges put in permantly. I ended up building abutments with brick walls.

That is looking really good Lynn. Thumbsup
Lynn the progress looks GREAT and i like the retaining walls, they look very good. I like the 3rd picture you posted, thats a cool shot and im anxious to see another shot like that when its all done, that looks like its going to be a SWEET tunnel entrance/exit!! Thumbsup Thumbsup Thumbsup
WOW, looking forward to seeing this scene finished Thumbsup
I love it Lynn. I noticed you were frustrated by trying to get the colors to show up when shooting with natural light vs getting color with flash be being frustrated with flash back on the first page of this thread. Have you considered getting a couple of inexpensive flood lights at your local home improvement store. Then you set them up to light the scene as you wish. You could even experiment with different temp range light bulbs or perhaps filters to change effects, moods, or simulate night time.
Thanks guys , I hope to get the bridges in place tomorrow after work and try an engine on the tracks. Russ trust me I'm no photographer. Icon_lol
Lynn...That's a great looking layout..!! I also think the R'house and T'table are really good, as is the wharf..!! Thumbsup

How long have you been at this..?? Seems to be a relatively short time....

BTW...Where does one get "India" ink...?? It seems to be perfect for staining wood. I'll be needing it when I start work on my scratchbuilt roundhouse....

Keep up the GREAT work and those posts coming..!!

Gus you can find it at Michaels and other craft stores should carry it too. Its found with the inks for stamps and such....
Thanks Josh....I'll look for it next time I take a run by Michaels... Thumbsup
Gus I've been working on this particular layout going on 3 yrs, always something new to learn.
Make sure you cut the india ink 1tsp to small bottle alchohol . You can do the same with black shoe dye and brown show dye cut the same way. Cheers
Ok bridges are now in , tracks been ballast'ed , trains running again.I did cut a hole into the side of the hill for any misshaps in the tunnel.
Soon I will start to build up the hill, I don't like to rush.
I know easy on the pics.
