Reinhard, your layout keeps getting better and better! I love it! I thought the elevator was as good as it gets, but your two new structures are awesome too. I especially like the one with the red brick sidewalls. Great job Thumbsup .
Kurt, you are right. The second box was on it's way to be a gray sibling of the former white boxes. It did not have enough eye attracting parts. Just a box. I did therefor replace the right gray wall with a brick wall like the other building.
The roof is made of evergreen #4524 metal roofing. Two spots have been painted flat aluminum like replaced spots to emphasize the elements of metal. Finally the billboard has been put back on the roof. That changed the overall impression from gray box to a simple building.

Very nice stuff there! I like the look very much, and intend to follow your lead on my layout. Thumbsup
Most impressive...Really good looking scenes...!! Thumbsup
The guys painting...Are they painting the sign...or over it..?? Goldth
BTW...Love that little Pacer...Was that the last of AMC's efforts..??
I could not resist to do another box...

It replaces the packing plant building that was of little use after 1980 and I do not have any reefer suitable for that period of time. The other building (at the background) of the former packing plant has been "demoted" to some kind of storage. The backside has two loading docks spaced for two 50' boxcars.

The new and the former buildings are located on the boundary of a removable section. They are only "put" on the layout and can be exchanged within seconds.

Update: photos updated with new roof.
Back in business after so many weeks ...

A new building is under construction. It feels good to cut and glue and see something to develop. I have missed that.

It will replace this older Cornerstone brick building

Reinhard, you've always got something going! For a relatively small layout, you sure make the best use of it! I like the loading dock/canopy on the new building. Looking good!
Great stuff! I especially like the building with all of the truck bays and the tar paper roof. Thumbsup
Saturday night and Sunday morning have been well spent

ps. Sunrise contains Flux and is therefor 3% brighter!
The open building has been finally placed and except the inside details completed. I wll travel to the next LHS this week and see what I can find to place in the building.
There are some trucks delivering. In case you wonder about the name of the company. Have a look at the BNSF home page. You might find a hint Goldth

And the other corner and the backside

A first look inside.

We need some fish! Here we go with another new building at the space of a former parking lot. There is one loading dock on the backside.

Reinhard, as usual, looking good. Some comments and questions:

First photo: The bushes and grass to the right of the driveway look very good. Can you comment on how you made the bushes?

Second photo: The grass around the spur is excellent. I'll be copying that! Maybe the track bumper needs a little rust?

Third photo: Again the grass around the building and spur are perfect. What product did you use for the fence?

Fourth photo: The cut-away building is nice. Thanks to Russ for making the suggestion and thanks to you for carrying it out so i can see how to make it work on my layout.

Fifth and sixth photo: I like the way the building goes to the edge of the benchwork. Another possibility for me. The air conditioner - is that scratchbuilt?

Gary,
1. The bushes are right away from the LHS. It is pack of 8 from a German brand named Heki (No 1735). Nothing special. I did cut of the stand and plugged them in a hole.
2. Yes, have to do some rust on the bumper. Thanks for reminding me.
3. It is the fence from MicronArt 93405 bought at Walthers. It looks good, is very simple to build but it has it's price. I suggest you try Kurt's fence first. MicronArt is a backup solution if you have my clumpy hands and poor eye sight.
5. The air conditioner is from http://www.unitmodels.com/ in the UK. They have a wide selection of all kind of small parts very useful to beef up buildings.

I will travel 50 miles to the LHS ( http://www.modelleisenbahn.com/index.php ) today and get "something" to put in the open building. A nice shop but the US material has been reduced close to zero over the last two years. However, it is still the best source to do browsing if you don't know what you need exactly.

Update: I'm back from the LHS. It was very disappointing. They have stream lines their product line to mayor brands only. All the stuff you could order easy via mail order are on the shelve but all the little things you are going browsing for have disappeared. I got nothing to be put into the open house. Have to think about it again... Sad

Beautiful work! Thumbsup
Blue Whale seafood is another winner.......simply put: it looks real! Thumbsup Thumbsup Thumbsup

Keep up the excellent work! Wink
Reinhard - I have missed this thread lately, and I come to find you have updated many times since I last looked! And wow, what great updates! Tremendous structure modeling. Outstanding. Makes me really itch to get the less-fun stuff out of the way (benchwork, trackwork, wiring, etc.) so that I can get to the more-fun stuff like structures and scenery and rolling stock modeling! Again, thanks for the fantastic inspiration.

Galen
Thank you for all the kind words. Because the LHS failed so miserable to provide something usefull for the open building I had to do find an alternative.

The solution are a bunch of machines wrapped and ready for transportation. They are made of a styrofoam (the white packing material that sticks to everything due to static charge) wrapped with paper tissue and painted with white glue, gray paint and a black wash. Total cost so far below $1.
Some palette for easier transportation with a fork lift and some address label might be future enhancements.

ps. I read the recommendation to cut a trailer an the border. That might be to fragile at that position but a trailer with open doors at the next loading dock might be a nice effect.
