I do like my layout most in the night when it is illuminated by the overhead lights only.
This is a try if my camera could catch that mood. Each photo toke a some time so the camera did rest on a track to be stable.

An extra just passing by. The south yard industry is not served on a Sunday morning.

Reinhard - I don't know what sort of camera you are using, but I've just bought one of these for my compact - a super device

Item number: 120780382490

Nice photos - love the Florida Central loco

I have got a Canon IXUS 300 HS about one or two years ago. It has a special program/mode for indoor photos with little and artificial light only. Most photos are made with that mode.
Problem is that for this very specific IXUS model is no housing for scuba diving on the market. It did not check it in detail because virtually "all" IXUS have such a housing.... yes, but not the 300 HS
This is it sitting on the tripod - it is so small that you just fold the legs to put the camera in its case

ShortLiner/Reinhard,

How do you like your camera?s I am looking for something new that doesn't have a steep learning curve. The tripod is neat. I checked out a base model Canon Rebel, but leary of spending 400-500. Any suggestions?

Larry
I like my camera. I have no skill but the camera knows what is best for me. The little tripod is a nice device. I should get one. It is very handy. Thanks for the pointer.
Nice Pics!
Larry - I haven't had a chance to do much with this one - it is a fairly newbie - but so far it seems to do a gtood job. I also have a Fuji S5500 - I think called the S5100 in USA - which is my "professional" camera, and still have my original compact, a Nikon 3200 Coolpix picked up refurbished and that is getting a bit long in the tooth but still takes good photos. The photo of the new one above was taken with the Nikon.
I'd suggest two things - #1, and most important "GO FOR THE GLASS" -poor quality lenses will never take decent pictures - read the online reviews - especially if they have example pictures, and #2, go down to the local camera shop and hold a few - even if you don't intend to buy from them - see how the camera and the control fit your hand - everybody is different and if it isn't comfortable you will regret buying it. This Fujifilm F600EXR was actually bought through QVC Shopping Channel here in UK after watching its capabilities demod on there and reading on-line reviews - very happy so far and no complaints - note the black version has a rubberised grip and is less slippy than the other coloured versions - white and pink I think! Oh it also does HD video and will take up to 64Gb cards
Whatever you get, I hope it exceeds your expectations
Jack

PS Reinhard - there is a second version of the tripod which has slightly longer legs, an on-line search will find it. I wanted the short legs so that was the one I bought

Got via ebay from UK. Have to wait for shipping cost on Monday. Thanks again for the nice pointer.
No problem mate - I found it by accident while looking at camera reviews!
Shortliner,

Thank you for the advise on camera hunting. We are going down to Grand Cayman next month and I would like to get something else for nice photos. My current camera was a gift for my 20 years of service eight years ago. It's not bad for outside stuff, but for model railroad photography, it has no depth of focus. I end up renting a camera for diving from the scuba shop in Georgetown.

Larry
Hello Reinhard,

Nice pics of a great layout. I am eager to start building my own ISL.
A room is now free but I've to refresh it before.

Daniel
Some of you might be confused because I am working straight ahead with no reworks. Don't worry, it's rework time now Big Grin

The right background dominated by the long "bakery" building and the stack of containers did not match the other layout.
I will shorten the "bakery" as much as necessary to have some space for a grain elevator with storage bins. The white structure is the styrene kernel of the central building. All buildings will be covered with corrugated metal and the storage bins will be the modern round (Walthers) version made of metal too. Some elevators to fill the bins are left from the last layout mill building.

I am not so sure how the local farmers will fill the bins with their harvest from the sandy soil.... looks like a good place to sell fertilizer Wink

Slowly growing. Had to attend a meeting on site.

and the shrunk "bakery" in the far right corner. It is still a serious structure on my small layout. The space in between will be used for the grain bins. I hope they will arrive tomorrow.
