Yes Reinhard that's it on south side of Pacific Bl & the tracks. Building had a few windows busted out so you could see the huge paper rolls they were working. Got to have one of those places on my layout to use double door boxcars.
I like the warehouse backdrop building. About how far in inches is it from your painted backdrop to the brick retaining wall?

Richard, the building is 9cm/3.5" thick.

I Like the looks of the ware house and how it ties the scenes together. I follow the updates Daily and love the progress you make. The Atlas kits looks great and I guess I will get a couple of them too for future projects. Cheers
Reinhard
Nothing says your building can't have a dock the length of the building just add 2-3 more doors. But then do you have enough cars to spot there. :?: Icon_lol
I have stopped the industry building project based on the Atlas kits. The overall impression is to old and does not fit to well into the overall layout scenery. I had something different in my mind when I started but the large brown block with the small round windows in the background dominated the center of the layout to much and enforced a feeling of transition area and/or even steam area.

Another Walthers George Roberts Printing Corp is on order and will be the base for a more modern kit bashed industry at the same place. May be it can be mixed and blended with existing Pikestuff parts.

ps. The close to completion structure is not be scrapped but found a save storage for possible later use.
Reinhard
Looks like that same space could hold 2-3 other industries. If you do that give each their own spurs so you don't have to move cars to switch the back industry.
I hoped my Genset disease would heal when the layout theme moved from SoCal to the east..... Confusedhock:
(corrected, thanks Koos)

hmm, I guess that didn't work Reinhard, try a different pill :-)
And didn't you mean moving 'East'?

I see your point Reinhard, using a little bit more modern structures for active businesses enforces the feel of your ghetto as an older, run down part of town.

Koos
Crazy building output as always Reinhard! I'm curious to see your new modernized structure.

These genset always remember me GMD-1 with their bulky look!

They (GMD-1 and NRE Genset) are slim and elegant engines. The long hood is called long hood because it is long indeed Thumbsup

ps. Another pair of Gensets should leave Brooklyn, NY today and arrive on Monday (no DHL express delivery on Saturdays here Sad ). The building kit is expected tomorrow to make my weekend.
Reinhard
Have seen UP run their Gensets w/ other 4 axles alot here in SoCal on local switch jobs. Haven't seen it on BNSF here yet. Has anyone seen the eastern biggies do it. And there's also alot of shortlines here that have Gensets. So you can mix or match them on your Freelance MR if you want.

Andy, I mix them with CSX GP38-2 and GP39-2 (Trainman models) but lots of photos show that CSX runs Gensets solo! (very unusual for UP in SoCal) That saves a lot space switching on my small layout. Anyhow I love to run NRE Genets in pairs. That looks best to me. A pair is switching CSX Hunts Point Market in Bronx http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TwnFLCMvSPQ.
I am looking forward for the Atlas Trainman models of the Gensets with dynamic breaks. Atlas answered by question about availability with 2.nd quarter 2014.
The Walthers kit arrived and this is a first test to see how it fits into the scenery. Will be a nice weekend Big Grin

Paint and glue job is done. Let the glue set before the details and weathering is done
