Your building & silos reminded me of Fisher Flouring Mills Co. It's on LAJ's #3 Lower Alley. Charlie Slater says they received flour, sugar & starch in Airslide hoppers. They also received bagged flour in boxcars. They used 1-2 boxcars per week to ship flour mixtures used for all kinds of bakery products. There are two spots for hoppers & two for boxcars at building. Look at 4921 Gifford Av 90058 to see it in Bing & Google aerials. There must be a place like Fisher's back east somewhere.

That's a good looking building too.
I know this area is still under construction so perhaps my comment is way too early, but I am just wondering if you're planning to do something to mask the transition from this building to the background flat (the corner behind the white flatbed truck)? it now looks like a wall cut in half leaning against another building, perhaps a couple of styrene strips can simulate the concrete frame that the rest of the building has, so it looks more like another corner of that building?

You said you had gensets underway from Brooklyn, who do you use there, and how does that affect import taxes for you?

The right side is hidden behind the tanks but the left side needs a solution too.

I got them from Trainworld ( <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.trainworldonline.com">http://www.trainworldonline.com</a><!-- m --> ). They are shipping with DHL Express within 48 hours! But no delivery on Saturday here in Germany. The parcel arrived in Leipzig this night and will be on hold until Monday early morning and delivered at Monday around lunch time.
Toys imported from the USA (that's what customs calls model railroad engines :o ) have no tax but 19% VAT must be paid. I assume that is valid for all EU countries but the VAT varies.

May be even more important is the removable of the buildings immediate to the new one. That results in a more open impression. Printed background, a container and a trailer complete the open scenery much different from the large brick building previously dominating the center to much. Excellent modeling as always. I’m impressed with how you keep changing the layout and model different eras and areas so convincingly. This latest version has a South East Detroit Michigan feel to it.

Central Illinois used an old SW9 (road number 1206) for industry switching in Chicago with a paint scheme similar to the old one from CBQ. A freelance model is easy to do using a P2K CBQ SW9 as a base and some stuff left over from other projects. The correct lettering "Central Illinois" (hood) and "City of Chicago" (cab) are not available from Microscale.
Anyhow it's a perfect fit for my urban rust belt freelance layout and the P2K drive is a very smooth runner!

Your SW9 is missing the handrail near top of hood above the dividing line between blue (?) & grey colors. FRA maybe after your MR if you don't add them. LOL
