The Hobo Camp Fire Is going well #X.. Stop In!!!
Jim,
I have noticed the lack of posters too. I have also noticed that there are lots of people viewing, I just wish we could get them to at least say hello. There is a lot of useful content here and it pops up in google searches.

I went to the hearing aid center yesterday and they were able to fix my hearing aids under warranty and I also took a test and ordered new hearing aids. My insurance will cover a new set every 2 years and they way my hearing changes that's a good thing.

Gas out of town yesterday was 3.499 everywhere except one station I passed was 3.579.

We got 2 inches of rain overnight and we did need it, It is to rain for the next 3 days so train room here I come. Wink

Tom, I have had problems with Wi-Fi equipment too, I wonder if they are keeping up with all of the changes.  I know it is covered with warranty for the most part but the hassle of returning the stuff gets frustrating.  Often the instructions are so bad I give up.

      Time for a coffee refill

Charlie, over the past 24 hours, we've had 18 members stop by along with some 425 "guests". We had 15 new posts, which for the summer months isn't too bad. Still, it would be nice if those that stop by and don't have anything to post, at least say "hi" in our "HI" thread. At our best, when we broke away from Zealot, we were getting around 100 posts a day, we kind of settled down to 50 before we lost a lot of modelers and forums in general were losing popularity.

Good morning, just a short stop by to say, all is OK, temps are high as is the cost of everything and we still haven't gotten any rain.

Enjoy the day..

We have a number of Internet or Wi-Fi radios. We can't get music we can stand reliably over the air, so we have a few PBS/NPR classical music stations.
A while back I lost one of the stations while changing to Daylight time and couldn't access the list of stations to retrieve it. It turned out that the internet site that maintained the list was either no longer talking to Sangean or had gone out of the business. A newer model of the radio does work.
I check in every night but have little to show and I can't get my photos over to the computer.

Greetings, gang.

Clear and 71 outside my window this morning. It may get to the upper 80s with a 60% chance for some strong storms this evening.

Yesterday went as predicted with swimming and a movie. The movie plot was average and the special effects were pretty cool. The movie mentioned two of the places I went to on my road trip.

This morning is cupboard restocking and yet another in a very long line of trips to the gym.

Gas was down to $3.09 yesterday.

All stay safe.

Good morning

It is 84 degrees this noon hour and gas is still 3.359 so same soup, different day.

Rain is spotty in the area so I get another rain day escape for mower duty.

I got another NS heritage locomotive in the post Monday, this one is the Erie unit, and Athearn Genesis and it is very nice, but so far the nicest I have found is the one sold by Intermountain.  I don't know what is wrong with me but after collecting PRR for 50 years I suddenly have no objection to add the roads that I have seen over my years of rail fanning.  It does add some variety to the mix.

Here we are in the middle of another week and the end of July. Half way through summer and I notice the days are losing daylight.

Cheers to all

Happy August, gang.

68 and clear skies this morning in the remote reaches of northern Iowa. Only supposed to get to the low 80s today so we get a one day reprieve from the heat.

Fairly routine day yesterday. Today I need to get a chip in the windshield repaired that I picked up while on my road trip. This morning I'm headed to Menards for a few things.

Last night I renewed my subscription to MR. When I got the confirming e-mail there was a noticed highlighted in yellow to the effect that my subscription would now auto renew until I cancel it. No warning of that before I hit the button. Kind of shabby in my opinion.

Matt - good to hear from you. A always family first.

All stay safe.

Good morning all, still no rain here, supposedly a lot of wind last night, but I haven't been out to see if there's been any damage.

I have a trick with MR, I wait until I get a bill in the mail and pay them by check. I know that's a bit old-fashion, but they don't have my credit card on file and can't auto-renew without my permission. You can also contact Kalmback and tell them not to auto-renew. BTW, they are not happy with that arrangement and usually take months, after many email harassments, to send a physical bill. Sometimes they will continue to send me the magazine, sometimes they'll stop for "non-payment" while I tell them to send my a bill and I'll pay. I do not like auto-renew either and don't intend to renew when that comes due. I had auto-renew on the daily paper for a few years and when I canceled, I had to call them before they'd refund the balance I had paid but didn't use.

Good to see you Matt, I wish you the best on your pending marriage, have you guys set a date yet?

That's it, I'm taking it easy again today, healing much quicker when I do. Enjoy the day everyone, and stay safe, it can get rugged out there....

Howdy Don, We are looking towards fall next year to get married. It won't be nothing big, just something small and then have a decent reception.

Hello Blue
Sun, humid, 89 for the day.
Home from Aldias and the last remaining real farmers produce stand anywhere close to here. All the other farms are now subdivisions.
So with that in mind I had 2 for-real BLTs, no blah Ts in these. We planted 6 Ts but the squirrels are destroying them even while they are green.

Howdy all

I am fighting printer problems but making headway. The WiFi print works from my wife's laptop but mine won't. I have reset and set every setting I could find. The trouble shooter says I have a problem but won't fix it and I can't tell what it is. I am not going to reset windows and go through that nightmare so I will just use a USB connection

As for these folks that have auto renewal I am fortunate to have a CC company that has an app extension in chrome that allows me to use a virtual card for every vendor I buy from. If they want auto renewal that is fine, I set it up then I go to the CC website and lock that virtual card.  If I want to renew I can unlock it.

Matt, It's good to have you post again, It must mean you are getting caught up. I am glad to hear you are among the smart folks that have a small wedding. You will be just as married as a large wedding without the hassle and expense.  An acquaintance of mine just laid out over 50 grand for his daughters wedding. That would have made a nice downpayment on a house.

No plans except to have a little fire in the fire ring and enjoy the cool Ohio evening.

Good afternoon folks

It is currently 94 with a high of 95.

It has been a long hot day at work. I can’t wait to get home and get in the shower.

I can tell you a good portion of this weekend will be spent recovering from working in the heat the past couple of days. Yesterday was a long one with a concrete pour and temperature at 95 with high humidity. Today is hotter and more humid but luckily, I don’t have to be at site for five hours in a row like yesterday.

Around the house this weekend we have the usual household chores to take care of including some laundry. We will need to make runs to the grocery store and PetSmart. I am not sure where else we may need to visit.

I am hoping to run some trains. I will look at the issue I have been having with the new Bachmann 0-6-0 stalling on some switch frogs sometimes. I want to work on the Bridges area which would involve placing more scenery elements around it. I might build a few rolling stock kits.

I hope everybody has a good day.

For the switch frog problem: Check which wheels are actually picking up. Then see if the trucks rock enough as they go tough the frogs. It could be one wheel rising and raising its mate off the rail.
