Mike checks in on this thread every few days and occasionally comments on some threads which means he's still functional but has issues. His last visit was about a week ago. I trade PM's with him from time to time to see how he's doing....

I am concerned that he is in the disaster area.

Charlie
Good point, he lives about halfway between Nashville and Charlotte, that looks like it is in the direct path.

Good morning Blue!
Days are definitely starting later in the morning here on the west coast.
Earlier evening darkness is definitely noticeable.

Hi guys! I'm about 45 miles west of Asheville. My cell and internet have been down but I'm OK and my place wasn't damaged. My oldest grandson lives in Asheville and is OK but has to walk everywhere as most roads and bridges still haven't been cleared/repaired. Fema has been useless. I thought we where supposed to be a swing state which I would think would encourge the Feds to give us quick service. I guess they figured the other was winning so why bother. They got so much bad press they finally got it in gear. Probably doesn't help that our guv is from the wrong party as well and can't run for reelection so he doesn't seem to care either.

Good to hear that you're OK Mike, and that things aren't as bad as we feared. Yeah, I hear FEMA has spent all our money on frivolities, I wonder how those folks in Florida are going to fair out...

They found 1.59 million to give to the people of Lebanon but more money for storm victims will have to wait untill congress is back in session because we are not as important as the Lebanes according to Joe's press secretary.

A pity, our people come last to spend our money on to help. We give billions to help others fight wars and not a nickle to help our own in need of the basics in life. I've been watching the damage in Florida and didn't see one FEMA truck, trailer or person, not one US Army personnel or vehicle, but I did see hundreds of electric service trucks from all over the country, the Red Cross and civilian volunteers already at work. Oh yeah, and the National Guard called out by the governor of Florida, they were there working too.

You can use those receipts to make a nice casserole if you have enough of them. Right now I find them to be way too short for doing that. Icon_rolleyes

I see where they decided that even though inflation is up around 20%, we will be getting a generous 2.5% increase in our allotment next year. Last year I got a $60 increase in SSI, and my mortgage holder decided to take it all thanks to an increase in taxes and insurance. I'm betting they'll do it again this coming year. Waiting
