Greetings, gang.

Another warm and muggy day underway. Currently 68 with the mid 80s scheduled for later and possible thunderstorms tonight. Humidity is currently 95%.

Yesterday I noticed the pitcher of tea in the fridge was starting to freeze so I cleaned the coils. Temperature back up to normal in the fridge but I did have a beer that had to have been the coldest/best I've ever had. Doctor appointment this morning followed by a trip to the gas station before prices go up again.

All stay safe.

Good afternoon folks

I am just killing some time before I have to head out to work. We are doing night work tonight, setting up temporary traffic control in the PA Turnpike Norristown Interchange.

It was a quiet weekend. Saturday, we did some running. We hit the produce store, the post office, and the pharmacy. We discovered that one of my wife’s prescriptions did not transfer from the closed Rite Aid to the new pharmacy. Sunday was a lazy day. We went out for Fathers’ Day dinner. Unfortunately, dinner was disappointing. We went to a place both my daughter and I have gotten takeout from, and the takeout was very good. The sit-down restaurant left a lot to be desired. The food was mediocre at best and definitely not worth the wait or the price.

The only thing I did modeling was I ran the L&NE RS-2 locos some more. They continue to improve with each lap.

I hope everybody has a good day.

Greetings, gang.

Cloudy and humid again this morning. 69 now and maybe the low 80s this afternoon. 60-70% chances for rain today and tonight. Got about a tenth of an inch from a brief thunderstorm that rolled through last evening.

Doctor visit was fine yesterday. This morning I'm heading out for an eye exam. It's out of town and by the time I travel plus the exam plus time for my eyes to readjust it will kill most of the morning. If the rain holds off I'll mow the yard when I get home. Also need to make a trip to Hobby Lobby for a new clock mechanism. This evening I'll load the bike in the car and tomorrow I'll take it in for an overhaul.

Most gas prices jumped from $2.75 to $3.19 yesterday. Walmart/Murphy Oil held the price at $2.75.

All stay safe.

Tuesday 6/17/2025 Hi of 88 today.
Hello Blue
Tiss my 86th birthday. We shall dine at the Texas Roadhouse.  Father's Day, no real meal as the day progressed, I had fresh made tater salad for breakfast, along about noon #2 son came in with a case of White Castles, and late afternoon DIL #1 walks in with a warm berry pie. So a meal wasn't needed. We ate the planned Sunday meal on Monday. Out this morning gas was $3.29. Oldest son cut the grass yesterday, storms expected tomorrow.

Happy Birthday young feller. Enjoy your dinner.  I got Dilly bars for fathers day, sadly they don't keep well, they were gone last night. (I did not share) Wink

Greetings, gang.

A light sprinkle at the moment. 65 going to maybe 80 with continued high humidity and chances for thunderstorms through tonight. 90s Friday to Monday. The electric meter will be spinning as the a/c is fired up.

Eye exam went well yesterday. Always a pleasant visit with the optometrist. Lawn didn't get mowed yesterday as my eyes didn't recover as fast as they used to. Bike is loaded and I'll be heading out soon to get it overhauled. No baseball games last night or today.

SJ - happy birthday. My father-in-law lived in the Port Huron area and loved gong to a place called Cheap Charlie's because they gave a discount based on your age. His last trip was when he was 88 and got an 88% discount on his meal.

Gas dropped a dime yesterday to $3.09.

All stay safe.

Greetings gang.

Sunny and warm today with a high in the upper 80s. Upper 90s through the weekend followed by three days of rain early next week.

Yesterday was interesting. Took my bike in for a 10 year overhaul. The bike shop was about an hour away so I had made prior arrangements to get it done in one trip. Took a book along and also spent some time looking at new bikes. Glad I spent the money getting mine rebuilt. Decent new bikes have a rather eye-opening price.

Got home and mowed the yard. It was too hot to do much more than ride it around the block for a test. I'll go for a longer ride this morning.

Gas is down to $3.04

All stay safe.

Home for the federal holiday today. The bride poked me at 06:53 this morning and told me I was late for work and then apologized when I said.... "Holiday...sleep...stop poking me..."

Wawa's got "any size coffee for $1" if you buy it in the app, so 20 ounces to start the day.

Dog started down our usual park trail and after about 1/2 a mile decided he was done - could have been the heat/humidity combination. Came back to weed the beds around the house before lunch and went through shirt number one. After lunch I did some tree trimming with my pole saw and sweated through shirt number two. The basement is a blessing right now and I have no plans to weed until after dinner. Getting ready for a small locomotive project that I'll share progress on later. I also picked up another rattle can of black spray paint at HD for rock prep, so I'll probably be planting more of those later today.

Found some "Johnny Lightning Muscle Cars" diecast cars at the checkout counter of Ollie's yesterday - they had a '69 Charger for $3.99 which beats the heck out of some of the other diecast stuff I've bought for the layout. Looks like they have 6 different ones ('01 Corvette, '67 GTX, '73 Le Mans, '79 Monte Carlo, and '13 Camaro). Stuck the Charger in Hazleton last night.

Back to work tomorrow, but most of my guys decided to make it a long weekend and took leave. Left to me to hold down the fort. Friday will be 1219 days until my planned retirement, but who's counting?

Happy birthday Sir James (belated though it may be)!

Greetings, gang.

Hot and windy this morning in the remote reaches of northern Iowa. 79 now going to 99 later with 80% humidity and winds 25-35 mph. A very good day to stay indoors.

I went out early yesterday (6:30) for a bike ride. The rebuilt bike allowed me to shave 4 minutes off my best time of the year over a 12.6 mile route. VERY happy with the bike. After the bike ride I went to Harbor Freight to get a cordless leaf blower for cleaning the sidewalk after mowing. Found one for $50 and headed for the checkout. Seems I needed to buy the battery and charger separately for another$50. Nope. found another one for $80 that I thought included the battery and charger. Got it home and on the way from the car to the house I saw that they were not included. I misread the sign. Back to HF. Then on to Menards where I found one for $70 that did include the battery and charger. Then the 11% rebate brought the price down further. Sold!

Only thing on the agenda fir today other than the usual laundry is a trip to the farmers market to pick up a couple ears of corn.

All stay safe.

Hello Blue
No train news, the clubhouse was open last night but I didn't go. We have had downpours of rain this week and a small tornado just 5 mile east of us. Temp today will be 90. For us that's HOT. Gas still floats around that 3-dollar mark. On Tuesday we ate at the Texas Roadhouse as it was my 86th birthday. Yesterday I did some errands and got home just before another round of rain. No plans for today.
