That engine was probably fresh off the assembly line! Its weird to think that as of the other day, they are just a memory, with only one in a museum, and a handful turning their last few wheels on SEPTA (and possibly MARC). Thats progress I suppose!

I makes one wonder if we're not just a few years away from seeing some mainline wide cab six axle diesels in museums as well! I wonder what the life expectancy on a C40-8W is...
