Josh, the 3 holes in the pilots would seem to be for "MU air" hose fittings. The one in the recess is the "train-line" air (brake) hose; the others are probably to attach a cast detail simulating the MU pipe fittings/air hoses for the main reservoir, and (2)independent (engine) brake hoses. If you are going to add cut levers, check prototype photos for mounting and formation detail. BTW, if you model the MU hoses connected, they need only be mated on one side - the redundancy is for convenience in making/breaking the coupling when necessary. Another thing noted is the side handrails...they are black, but from about the last stanchion to the end near the bottom step, this should be 'White" - think you can make it out on the proto-photo - as a SAFETY feature. I must say, that is one beautiful loco (for a Diseasel) Bob C.
