My dad and uncle were truck drivers when I was growing up. My brother is a truck driver and I retired from 40 years working as a transport refrigeration mechanic, so most of my life has been spent around trucks. I was born in 1946, so I don't remember prewar trucks, except to notice that because the automotive industry did no development work on new models during WW2, the emphasis when the war was over was the production of new model cars as soon as possible. Really new cars (rather than reworked prewar models) didn't come out until the 1949 model year. New trucks came out a couple of years later.
