There were some softcover books published in the late 70s and early 80s as Amtrak car spotters guides that had equipment rosters and floor plan diagrams. I don't recall titles or authors at the moment.
There is also AMTRAK By The Numbers, 1971 - 2011 available now.
And early issues of Passenger Train Journal had regular Amtrak consist updates.
