One of the few times that we went out as a family, I remember going to see the Christmas show at Radio City Music Hall. I was pretty young so I don't remember much, but I do remember seeing those Rockettes on stage. 
That was fun.
As far as a getting a gift that I could hold, it's hard to say. We were always into many smaller things rather than one or two big things, but I think the gifts that I treasured the most were the woodworking tools that I got over the years.
