Thanks again for the comments.I actually enjoy recycling stuff.Many times it saves me some money.For example the stilts were made from some scrap pipe sections that I glued together.
Kevin-if I may make a suggestion-if you are planning on using an old tank car for fuel storage you may want to think about mounting it on raised concrete fixtures made to fit the contour of the tank.This way if you are using it to re-fuel engines the fuel could then be gravity fed into the engines tank.
Gary,many years ago Model Railroad Craftsman used to have a feature called One Evening Projects.They ran one where they cut down a boxcar and mounted it on a heavy wooden platform.
I may still have it for anyone that may want to build this.I'll have to look.
