My custom rolling stock
#1
Hello,

today, I like to show you some of my custom rolling stock for my N-scale Southern branch.

Some time ago, I rebuild a Concor sidebay caboose into a Southern "yellow belly" by covering some windows, removing the roof walk and reshaping the bay windows. I also added MTL trucks and couplers. There's no real prototype caboose, but she looks close enough for me. The road number is my birthday by the way. In a few days, I'll get another Concor caboose to make a second one in all red. If you like, I'll show you some photos of the new caboose in progress in this thread.

Yesterday I finished a quick bash by relettering an C&EI gondola for Southern. I over painted the road numbers and C&EI tags with brown paint and added new letters from a Microscale decal set. Car data related lettering was not replaced. I'll also repaint the cover in a matching color to the body, but most time, I'll run this car open style.

There are some other custom models planned or in progress.
The second sidebay caboose was announced above and I'll also create a Graham County RR caboose and rebuild my 3-truck Shay to match a Graham County RR prototype. The Shay was kitbashed from Atlas-Shays some years ago. You can read about this bash here - <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.gerds-modellbahn.de/WSLC/Shay_12/Anleitung/Main.htm">http://www.gerds-modellbahn.de/WSLC/Sha ... g/Main.htm</a><!-- m -->

I also like to build some Southern pulpwood cars from old boxcars, just like the real Southern has done it in the 1950th.

If you like, I'll report the progress on them too in this thread.

Cheers, Gerd
