Paul,By actual measurements its 7' 0" not 9'.This was done on my 6' board and I place the switch at its spot..I need the extra 12"(by tape measurement) for the track beyond the switch and in that light the prize is still obtainable if I want to squeeze the extra foot which is a very good possibility..I found the solution to the puzzle now finding that extra foot..
As far as a cassette or fiddle yard the jury is still out since both ideas sounds feasible.
BTW..IF I had 9' I would be considering HO.
