Yep. And in particular the pictures Jack Delano took of railroads during WW2 for the Office of War Information. The man was a brilliant photographer with an eye for railroad subjects: http://www.jiggsy.com/category/image-gal...ack-delano

Shorpy (http://www.shorpy.com/) also has a wealth of pictures worth seeing - especially from the early years of the 1900s. One of my favorites is the series of panoramic pictures from Duluth, MN : http://www.shorpy.com/node/9481 - amazing railroad scenes

And of course, there is things like the Norfolk and Western image collection, or the Visual Records of the Minnesota Historical Society and many others.
