Hello,
i can't agree to the nightmare sceneries.
P2K ALCO S-1
The only hassle that can occur with this type of motor are not insulated brush terminals. The non-insulation is caused by the brass washer which shorts one of the brush terminal to the motor frame.
- screw off the non insulated terminal with brush holder
- use a plastic washer or made one yourself as shown in the photo, a piece of 0,5mm styrene sheet or similar will work
- place insulated washer as shown
- reinstall brush holder
- check the insulation by rating
This motors were out of old Atlas ALCO S-2's which were not DCC ready.
