Great looking GP38-2 you got going there!
No wonder those Geep 38-2s are known as the GP9 of the 70s.

Does anyone know how to remove the side truck frames from a p2k model? I need to paint them black and I can't figure out how to take them off.

I think I remember the bottom cover of the trucks must be removed first. The bottom cover has some pins that lock the side frames.

As Reinhard stated you have to remove the axle retainer cover. There are four small tabs that have to be popped up to remove the covers with a very small screwdriver or a #11 blade. Once you get one up put something in the gap to prevent in from snapping shut before you get the other three separated. Also be careful not to break more than one tab on each retainer as these hold the axles and trucks together.

This locomotive is officially finished. Thanks to bradleydcc for another great model. Here's a link to his website with the finished photos of 2738 plus a video with the caboose he did for me. http://bradleydcc.weebly.com/proto-2000 ... -2738.html

I decided I'm going to go the more difficult route and renumber the Conrail gp40-2 for CSX 4427. Which also means giving it the Conrail Quality scheme. I tried using micro sol but wasn't working that great on the decals and started some discoloration. So I dumped the hood into 91% alcohol and I really hope Tru-color Conrail blue will be a good match. Also got the decals on the nose in place.

Tru-color Conrail blue isn't an exact match. I'll let this dry over night and I have Badger Conrail blue maybe I'll try spraying it over the tru-color and see if that changes anything.
