The Hobo Camp Fire Is going well #X.. Stop In!!!
Greetings gang.

61 and cloudy, mainly because the NWS has predicted mostly sunny skies for the day. Supposed to be in the low to mid 70s.

Yesterday was a v-e-r-y long day. Arrived by 11 as requested. Sat in the (very cold) waiting room for over 2 hours before finally beginning prep. Waited over another hour and a half before finally being taken in to OR. 20 minute surgery followed by an hour of recovery from anesthetic. Kicked out by 4:30 because everyone was on overtime. Finally home by 6:30. Looked at on line report later and the supposed problem discovered "manually" by two different doctors (not PAs or ARNPs) was not in evidence under visual inspection. Not sure where to go next.

SJ - gad to hear Mrs. SJ s doing well.

Nothing planned for today.

All stay safe.

Good morning, just a quick stop by, got another early morning appointment. Saw another doctor and since I've had so many procedures recently, he's decided to try an just treat the symptoms. So right now, I've dodged any more slicing and dicing... Goldth

Tom, good luck with your surgery, I hope it does what it's supposed to do.

Another record breaking day yesterday. Even though we did get a storm last night around midnight, we still have the records for consecutive days at 100 or over, number of days with lows of 90 or more, and we are one day from tying the record for the most days 110 or more.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Greetings, gang.

Partly cloudy and 59 at the (very early) moment. Supposed to get to about 80 later on.

Yesterday was a pretty quiet day. I did notice yesterday morning that my reading vision even with glasses on was somewhat blurry. That faded as the day progressed and by evening all was fine again. A couple of other after effects were noticed, one of which I'm sure whether it was related to the surgery was hiccups. Had them off an on all evening. During surgery they did stick a tube down my throat for an airway. The other effect was to thoroughly screw up my sleep. Tuesday night I didn't get to sleep until almost 1. Last night I went to bed about 11 and woke up again around 12:30. Finally fell back to sleep again but woke up around 2. Been up ever since. May be a nap later.

Gas was down to $2.99 yesterday.

All stay safe.

Greetings, gang.

60 under hazy skies this morning. Supposed to be in the low to mid 80s today and the mid 90s for the weekend, followed by temps back in the 80s next week. No rain in sight.

Yesterday was a pretty quiet day. I did manage to hit a few stores looking for a new shirt. Found 2 but only one was in my size. Today I plan to resume my trips to the gym and maybe mow the yard. Slept for over 7 hours last night so hopefully my sleeping is back to a normal pattern. Football starts tomorrow for the great-grandkids. First game is an hour away so I may or may not go.

Gas dropped again yesterday. Down to $2.96.

All stay safe.

Good Saturday morning to ya all. Yes, I did sleep late, almost 10 1/2 hours, I just started on a new medication and one side affect is sleepiness. Uh, it's working....

Filled up at Costco yesterday for $3.24 while the tanker truck was there. Got lucky, gas then jumped to $3.37, pennies from many others at $3.41.

Laundry day today, I work in shifts, start today, finish sometime next week when I'm forced to put it away.

Was a chilly morning yesterday, down into the 80's but topped out at 109 to stretch our record of consecutive 100 degree and higher days.

Enjoy the weekend everyone, stay safe and stay cool...

Hello Blue.
Tiss sunny with an afternoon temp at 92.
My wife is doing OK, still complains of pain. She will have her first PT session away from home today.
No train news I have really been a couch potato lately. BUT I have also been a house husband which I'm not good at.

Good afternoon folks

It is 89 going up to 90

On Friday my wife and I traveled to Cumberland, MD for the weekend. On Saturday we visited the Allegany Museum which shows the history of Cumberland and the surrounding area. In the evening, we rode the dinner train on the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad from Cumberland to Frostburg. It was a nice ride and the dinner was awesome and delicious. During the trip we realized that of all the previous excursion rides, Polar Express, Halloween Trains, Easter Bunny, and Wine Tasting we had never done a dinner train. We are now thinking about our next one. The only disappointment was that both of Western Maryland’s steam locomotives are down for repairs. Sunday was our drive back. All in all it was a very enjoyable and much needed trip.

Tonight, I hope to get downstairs to the layout and do something model related.

I hope everybody has a good day.

Hi all. its Monday again still trying to get over our Colorado trip but as they say it isn't time to rest, we put 12 dozen of sweet corn in the freezer this weekend now we have three boxes of peaches to do but 12 and a half hours on the road take its toll, so we put off till Wednesday to finish.
all stay safe Jim

Greetings, gang.

Cloudy but clearing. Had a half inch of rain overnight. Supposed to get to the upper 80s this afternoon.

Very quiet weekend. Football for a great-grandson on Saturday morning and an F1 race on Sunday. I spent most of Sunday in the reading room after eating a (possibly overripe) peach. Started feeling better yesterday. I did notice there's another ground squirrel running around the yard and living under my garage. Not sure who's eating it but the bait I leave out keeps disappearing. Started to fry myself some eggs yesterday and when I opened the refrigerator - surprise! Out of eggs. Quick trip to the grocery store and #3.48 later I had a dozen eggs.

Gas was down to $2.94 when I was out and about yesterday.

All stay safe.

Good morning, the weather gal's map showed this big colored blob heading into the valley, but apparently it took a turn before it got here. Not a drop of rain anywhere.

Talk about gas, prices up, I see many stations at $3.45, Costco and Sam's at $3.29. Eggs too are high. Went to Walmart yesterday, really low on eggs, large going for, $4.22 a dozen. Supply and demand...

Take care and have a great day today....

Greetings, gang.

After all the warm weather the 65 degrees outside my window this morning feels downright cold. Supposed to get to the upper 80s later on. Good chances for rain tomorrow and tomorrow night.

Picked up some more rodent bait yesterday. Hopefully that will take care of the problem with the ground squirrel. Had a decent time at the gym until my knee started to lock up while swimming. Otherwise a pretty quiet day. Today I need to mow and then clean up a batch of acorns. I'll work on that this morning while it's still cool out although the humidity is still quite high,

Gas price is up to its usual goofiness. One gas station at $2.89. Directly across the intersection it's $3.34.

All stay safe.

Good morning all, yeah, our mornings are a bit chilly too, down to the low 80's, highs still well over 100, we have well over 90 consecutive days at 100 or more. Even the day it rained got to 100 and there's no end in sight.

Gas at Costco is still $3.25, strange that all the other stations that are at $3.29 are near Costco or Sam's Club. Get a mile away and we are approaching $3.50.

That's alllll folks.... enjoy the day and stay safe and cool...

Good morning,

Woke up to a chilly 81° this morning and heading for 90+.  I had to turn on the AC in the train room last night but it only took 30 minutes to get it to 72°.  That is the first time I have had to use it this year. I put 9 inches of insulation all around and 15 in the ceiling so it is very easy to heat and cool.

Gas is down to 3.07 but look for a sharp increase tomorrow when folks start traveling for the holiday.

I received my new passport card Monday. It only took 4 weeks so I am impressed. I did not pay the $60 fee (bribe) to have it expedited.

I did get a couple more of the heritage units this week and now the rest will be hard to acquire. I don't think they are holding the value that some originally thought, I am getting them because I decided I want them.  PRR was getting boring.

I worked on the coach model I am making for the Kiski Junction and started to work on the flat car. I also got a great buy on a SD45-2 that I want to make into the Erie Lackawanna heritage locomotive. All it will need is the numbers changed.

Have a great morn of the midweek bog down.

No train news. Wife is doing well, started rehab, which is not too far from home. Big storm Tuesday afternoon did a lot of damage, 300,000 had no power including us. Edison says 90% will be back online by the end of the today. Ours was back on yesterday morning. Gas was down some but still over three dollars. It's hard to believe that our summer is over. sigh

Happy Labor Day weekend, gang.

64 now going to the low 80s.  Got an inch and a quarter of at times very heavy rain last evening.  Similar temps for the next several days.

Not much going on.  I did take a herd of acorns to the yard waste site.  As I was going in I met a neighbor who was leaving.  He told me the attendant told him he couldn't dump his acorns, something we have all be doing for years.  When I signed in the attendant didn't ask and I didn't tell, kind of like the way the military used to be.  Today there's another small batch that needs to be collected.  Otherwise a trip to the gym is the only item on the agenda.

Busy weekend ahead.  College football starts tomorrow (brief interruption - I'm watching a deer stand in my front yard and munch on acorns) then on Sunday is a Formula 1 race.  Monday I will be walking in a parade in support of my granddaughter who is running for a political office.

Gas was either $3,24 or $3.19, depending on which gas station.

All stay safe.
