The Hobo Camp Fire Is going well #X.. Stop In!!!
Greetings, gang.

30 and clearing for a while before clouds move back in. Maybe the mid to upper 30s for a high.

Not much going on since my last report. Made a quick trip to Walmart for a few items. I shouldn't need to go near a store again until after the first of the year.

All stay safe.

Happy Christmas Eve, gang!

28 right now and cloudy. The NWS has allocated an additional 6 degrees for the day and is leaving the clouds in place for the next several days. Warming trend starts tomorrow with a high near 50 by the weekend, or so "they" say.

Not much going on around here. Last month I trimmed back the bridal wreath bushes on the side of the house. Yesterday I started reducing that pile by further cutting up the branches. Surprisingly they were still green inside so it may be a while before I can watch them fall on a match in the driveway. Today I need to make an angel food cake and that should be the last of the preparations for tomorrow.

Gas has dropped another 3 cents to $2.89

All stay safe.

Greetings, gang

Visibility is down to about 2 blocks here in town. Probably much worse out of town. 3 now going to maybe 40 this afternoon.

Quiet day for me yesterday. Between Christmas Eve and Christmas day I talked with all three kids and some of the grandkids. Otherwise an uneventful holiday. I tried watching National Lampoon's Vacation yesterday that I had recorded off of AMC. They butchered it down from an hour and 37 minutes to an hour and 21 minutes. Gave up part way through.

Nothing really on the agenda for today other than to start reducing. I've put on almost 10 pounds in the last month. My family has a tendency to obesity so I generally work pretty hard to avoid that. Sweating starts today!

All stay safe.

Hello Blue.
Ahh the day after. We spent Christmas afternoon with our 3 kids and families. Watched some football, had plenty to eat. Opened some presents. I got 3 gift cards, Menards, White Castle and Texas Roadhouse. I guess my wife will want to tag along to the Roadhouse.

Greetings, gang.

43 foggy degrees this morning and according to the National Weather Service rain is on the way. A quick check of regional radar indicates that the we fall in the 20% area of the NWS's prediction of an 80% chance of rain today. Warm through the weekend and then winter returns, minus the snow.

Sweating occurred at the gym yesterday and more will occur today in my quest to remove the weight gained in the last month. Getting rid of all the cookies, banana bread, etc., is a good step in that direction also. My trusty space heater is fired up and warming the front porch so after breakfast I can sit out there and watch for the rain. No other pans for today.

All stay safe.

Good morning folks

It is currently 35 heading up to 38. The weekend is supposed to be milder and almost spring like but with rain.

It has been a slow week. I am the only person on the job site the past few days and the same for early next week. I built a few more Accurail kits and run some trains.

This weekend will be dedicated to returns. This year is the most we have had in quite a few years. Since my wife has lost 160 pounds over the last year and a half she needs some new clothing. Unfortunately, since she is allergic to polyester and the discrepancies in women’s sizes we always have a bunch of returns. We need to run a few errands to the grocery store and produce store. Not sure what else we will be up to.

I contacted Rapido regarding my new FB1 unit that has been stalling and slowing down intermittently. Since it is happening at random locations and the FA1 unit is running fine. When I run them together, I notice the A unit dragging the B unit. I contacted Rapido and they suspect the motor is going bad and gave me a return authorization. I am hoping to mail it tomorrow. I am hoping to continue building Accurail kits and run some trains. I have several new locomotives I need to test.

I hope everybody has a good day.

Greetings, gang.

There will be blue skies this morning in the remote reaches of northern Iowa. The NWS is predicting a high in the upper 40s later this afternoon.

Looks like I was wrong on yesterday's weather prediction (see above). It started raining about 10 AM and didn't stop until sometime after 7 PM. According to the NWS we got about a quarter inch.

Lots of calories burned yesterday. 1/4 swimming, resistance work, 1.5 miles on the elliptical, and a 1'5 mile walk to the grocery store. Today is of course laundry and the final (for me) college football game of the season. In related news I saw an article where a college quarterback is picking up $4 million a year for the next two years to play for Duke.

Greetings, gang.

The NWS decided we had enough sunshine yesterday and has blessed us with more fog and clouds. 37 now going to maybe the low 40s later. Got to 50 yesterday.

I spent a lot of time on thee porch yesterday with the aid of my trusty space heater. Also got the laundry caught up and watched my college team close out a moderately successful football season. After the game I took a nice two mile walk. All that fresh air must have been tiring as I slept for 8 hours last night. No major plans for today.

All stay safe.

Welcome to the last few days of 2024, gang.

The fog has lifted now but when I got up visibility was down to about a block. 30 now going to maybe the upper 30s later with some rain later this afternoon and possibly some snow tonight. Much colder for the remainder of the week.

Another pleasant afternoon on the porch yesterday but that's coming to an end for this year. This morning I need to get to Walmart and possibly Menards before they get busy. Only other items on the to-do list are a trip to the gym and water all the house plants.

All stay safe.
