Hello Blue
I have been absent most of the time for the last several days. On Christmas day we were to go to my grand daughters for dinner but my wife was not feeling up to it. At noon I took her to the emergency room. From the time we left home and arriving at the hospital 30 minutes later she had lost the use of all of her limbs. The staff got right to work running tests and by 8PM they had diagnosed it as Guillain-Barre syndrome. They did not have the treatment she needed there so she was transferred to another hospital in Youngstown. They gave her medicines to help lower her white blood count. It is an Auto immune disease brought on by an infection she was taking antibiotics for. She is done with that treatment and if she does not gain control of her muscles they will have to do dialysis which they are hoping to avoid. She should recover 100% but it can take a long time to get there.
I will let you know now and again how she is doing
Gas dropped to 2.89 here yesterday and we have had mild temperatures but we had high winds yesterday and we were without power for 27 hours. I ran the generator between hospital trips to keep the freezers and fridge cold
Nothing train wise to report.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!!!

Wow, Charlie! I hope your wife recovers quickly and completely.
Happy New Year's Eve, gang.
The temperature has slipped below the freezing point and it won't be back above for the foreseeable future. 10 day forecasts (for what they're worth) are showing temperatures in the single digits above and below zero next week. Brrr!
I put a new blind on a window yesterday that turned into a hour long project with possibly some ungentlemanly language. It was even more awkward since the window was on the landing going upstairs so there was limited room got get the ladder there. Then not much room to pick up dropped tools. Then a big (30 inch diameter) flower pot holding an indoor tree making it hard to reach the other side of the window. Just not a fun project.
Nothing major for today.
Filled the car yesterday and gas was $2.82.
All stay safe.

Happy New Year, gang.
24 now and maybe the upper 20s later. Maybe some snow tomorrow.
Very quiet New Year's Eve for me. My only activity was a trip to the gym and that got cut short. After swimming I was going to use the tread mill or elliptical but found out the gym was closing in 15 minutes so I just came home. Certainly nothing planned for today.
All stay safe.

Tiss cloudy and 34, temp goes down today and stays there.
We will watch the Rose Parade, and I will watch the Buckeye football game later.
The kids invited us for New Years eve, but we declined, neither of us felt like going out.

Charlie, prayers for your wife and a speedy recovery.
Not much to report. Things have been fairly quiet around these parts the past week. Work was supposed to quiet but then a delivery of some material was supposed to come Monday. Of course it did show up Monday or yesterday. We will see about tomorrow. The Contractor was scheduled to be off from Christmas until this coming Friday, so a crew had to come in this week.
I was able to renumber six Accurail boxcars this week. I am hoping to do at least another five before the week is over.
I hope everybody has a good evening and a Happy New Year.

Good Morning Blue,
Well, it's a little after 4 am.
I've been awake for about an hour, woke up and couldn't get back to sleep.
Decided to get up and reheat some coffee.
Had a conversation with my sister the other day about family tree stuff. Got me to talking about family stories, she said I should just write them down, maybe spend an hour each day writing. I have two little granddaughters, I guess I want them to know how we came to be where we are and why. I have a bunch of friends from college who we get together with each New Year. More and more I am reminded how my family background is so different from theirs.
After staying up to see Ryan Seacrest the other night, it's hard to believe I'll turn 75 this year.
I really look forward to the days getting longer again.
Sorry for the ramble.
Hope your day is great.

Hello Blue
Sorry about the last post in color. I won't do that again, well unless I forget.
Watched the big Buckeye win yesterday, also watched Married with Children which ran all day. I got to see some of my old favorites.
We have 29 degrees with lite snow blowing around. Ten-day forecast shows nothing higher than 20s, winter is here for sure.

Anyway not your typical holiday movie but it was pretty good.
I won't say much about it in case you all have not seen it.
I will say it would not suprise me if some one makes an action video game based on it.
Slept threw newyears eve as well.
Most of you probably don't know or remember me, i used to post here as af350. I have had a lot of life changes cince way back then, the first thing i noticed when i rejoined is that Cheif eagles passed. Sad part of life people grow old and pass on. No matter how many people we know and lose it always hurts a bit. Most of my dad's family pass on early in early 70's dad was 82 which is ancient in his family. My older brother passed in 2011, dad passef in 2019, oldest sister passed 2020 mom passed 2022 she was 88. Only have my other sister and here family left i have a few aunts 2 uncles a bunch of cousins 2nd and 3rd cousins but hardly see them. Anyway seems like i grew up going to a lot of funerals but never hit me until imediate family passed.
Some of you who might remember me from way that music wise i liked classic and pop music from 80's and Also Bluegrass / Godpel music. Well my current car has xm radio i discovered the type of account i have lets me also download app on phone as well with no extra charge. Mostly i listen to 80's on 8 and the bluegrass channle. Well some how i found a video of wyatt ellis who is and up and coming mandolin player. He writes most of his songs. Only 14 and twice already has bern to Grand ole opery.
He has two music videos and they were produced by Jospeh Cash Johnny cash's grand son. This kid has played music with most of the modern day bluegrassers. He said in an interview he is mostly influenced Bill Monroe. Anyway it is awesome mandolin music, a much welcomed break from annoying banjos.
Carrer wise currently temp partial dissabled mostly ostioarthritus no cartlidge left in either knee. 80 lbs to lose before they will do knee replacements. Last job would have lost it even if knees were fine. I worked for the Columbus Dispatch(news paper)later to become part of gatehouse media who merged with a company called Ganette when this happend printing and ad insertion was moved to indianappolis. My main skill set is industrail controls specificaly 2 and 4 wire loop controls. Mostly i did indicating tempature controls both thermocouple and RTD sensors, secondary it did a lot of tacometers. Also did quite a bit of I to P and P to I equipment being I for electrical and P for phnewmatic stuff. Also worked on some specialized circuits for a major telcom firm the circuits allowed hot swapping of circiut boards. Cant say much more about it. I got my start as a kid helping dad repair old tv sets back when screens were tubes. He was a tool and die in high school but worked for Omar bakery and retired from Wonder bread. He took a course from rets electronics that was the era of transtioning to transistors from vacuume tubes. Later on 2 years of career center in high school i took digital industrial electronics. After school i enrolled at Devry who was just a tech school back in 88 to 90. Later on the acquifef keller business collage and became a University. The campus i went to was originally Ohio institute of technology before Devry bought them. I have an associates degree electronics. Went back much later got B.S. of technical management. I have done circuit board stuffing very boring, cable tv equipment set top boxes and line equipment refurbishing, industrial controls, telephone equipment, and digital coppier. Also done a tiny bit of IT work micro film camera cleaningand repair and use, printshop bindery work.

Greetings, gang.
14 cloudy degrees this morning int he remote reaches of northern Iowa. Maybe the low 20s later on.
Another quiet week is sliding into the sunset. Only item so far for today is maybe a trip to the gym but I'm rapidly losing enthusiasm for that. Had a very light snow yesterday morning but it got warm enough that most of it melted off.
Monday when I filled the gas tank gas was $2.82. Yesterday when I was out and about it was down to $2.72
All stay safe.

Good evening folks
It is 30 with some snow showers.
The weekend has not started well. I have been feeling sick the last couple of days. I managed to make it to work. I only visited the site once today. I felt that bad. Usually, I walk around the site three or four times a day. There were only two guys working and they were drilling and installing anchors for the marine fenders for the canal intake structure. Not much to inspect. I hung out in the trailer scanning concrete delivery tickets and copying the contractor’s daily logs for July. I got home and found the wife feeling about the same as I. We decided on pancakes for dinner as they should be easy on our stomachs.
And to top it off we are getting some snow. Looks like it will be a coating to an inch. Sunday overnight/Monday morning could be more snow. Of course, predications are all over the place from a coating to 6 inches. This will mean our usual trips to the grocery store, PetSmart, and wherever else will be a battle against the snow panic crowd. My wife’s birthday is on Sunday and as of yet she has not told us if she wants to go out for dinner or stay at home.
On the modeling front, I have a couple more Accurail cars to renumber and then I need to build some more. I am hoping to run some trains.
Good to hear from you Royal blue and welcome back.
I hope everybody has a good evening.

Greetings, gang.
Rather cool this morning at 4 degrees. Maybe the mid teens for a high with a 20% chance of some snow overnight tonight. Rather a cold snap for the coming week. Not even supposed to get to 20 until next weekend.
A rather quiet week has drawn to a close. Next week could be interesting. A friend has sold her condo and is coming back to town to start cleaning it out. I have offered to help. Not much else going on. Basketball for the great-grandkids doesn't start until the following week but there's only two games remaining on the schedule. Next sporting activity won't be until maybe late April when soccer starts.
Gas has dropped again to $2.65 and eggs were $5.79 yesterday.
All stay safe.
