This week has turned bad.
Yesterday i went out in the car. The check engine light came on and it was running roughly. At the exit from our development it died completely.* After about 3 hours a tow truck arrived to take it to our dealer's. They found that there was diesel in the tank. The engine now needs replacing. They were going to talk to our insurance about it. I have no idea how one would get diesel in the tank without a lot of extra work.
My in-house accountant tells me that we have enough in the bank account to cover it if we have to, result of not going out for coffee for 5 years.
* a couple of car lengths short of the road, with enough room for the tow truck.

Hello Blue
Got nothin for ya. It was 12 degrees @ 7:30 this morning. Afternoon Hi in the 20s.
Looks like the big snow will pass south of us. A big Lions game tonight. Hoping for a win. If not they still gave us a great winning season.

Greetings, gang.
Another cool morning outside my window. 5 at the moment with a wind chill of -11. Maybe the upper teens this afternoon.
Nothing going on here. Big adventure for the day is a trip to the gym and maybe a trip to Menards for some paint and patching compound. A friend is due into town today and I may have to help her start cleaning out her condo. Just waiting for a phone call or text.
All stay safe.

We thankfully got short-changed with the snow.
They were predicting 2" to 4" we got 2. South of us got more.
this made it easy and quick to shovel

Greetings, gang.
The cold continues. 9 this morning with maybe 20 for a high. No snow any of the 4 long range forecasts that I look at.
Good workout followed by a semi-successful trip to Menards. Got some paint to almost match the existing paint. I may wind up repainting the entire (very small) wall. The hole is patched and came out just fine. I'll play with paint maybe later today. Nothing major planned for today other than the usual trip to the gym.
More gas goofiness. Some stations at $3.09. Most other stations at $2.63 and one station at $2.59.
All stay safe (and warm).

Closed post today again - apparently, not all of the roads or parking lots had been plowed yesterday. I'd planned on working on Monday and Thursday this week with the rest taken off with my remaining leave balance, but after a snow day on Monday and Thursday becoming a day of mourning for President Carter, I'm not working at all this week. When I look back, I've only been to work 1 day in the last 3 weeks, so this is great preparation for what's going to happen in 3 years and 9 months - retirement!
As you might tell from my postings, a lot of my free time has been spent down here in my office working on the Hazleton addition of the layout, and it's been fun being able to devote more time that usual to things with small wheels. The dusting of snow from last night largely disappeared off the driveway with a little sun, so I didn't need to get the snowblower out two days in a row. The dog and I took a trek in the wilds of Palmer State Park this morning. We could sneak around in the fluffy snow, but no wildlife to report. Wore the low boots, so the socks ended up in the hamper upon my return.
Got a great set of unexpected donations to my layout today in the form of a box through the postal service from a great benefactor of the hobby. I'll be showing off these new beauties in the coming months as I put them together and into use.
My 1-year-old granddaughter flies into town with her mom tomorrow - we'll be off to BWI to pick them up, but I don't think we're going to see them a whole lot before they head back to Texas early next week. I think they do want to do a little tubing on the new snow, so I'll have to pump up some tubes early tomorrow morning.

Hello Blue
Cloudy as usual, temp is 21 and that's about all for today. However here in SE Mich. we have no snow. Plenty elsewhere though.
Haven't been out for a few days so I don't know the current gas price but I'm sure it's still around 3 dollars.
Dentist appointment this morning to get an old filing replaced. No news from the train nuts. Club meet Sunday though.

Good morning folks
It is a wind driven 23 this morning. Wind chill makes it feel like 10. I can say that along the Schyukill River the wind chill is much lower than 10 because of the heavier wind blowing. Hig is supposed to be 33.
I have been organizing my passenger equipment this week. I thought I was done and then realized I have an IHC RF&P set I need to add to the inventory list. The cars have no boxes so that is why they got missed. I built 5 Accurail kits this week. They were all special runs for Trainfest 2024. I still have 3 to go.
I have not been able to get the outside Christmas decorations in due to the snow and now the cold temperatures and wind which has turned the snow into ice. It is supposed to be above freezing this weekend so maybe I might get them in otherwise we will just concentrate on the inside ones. I have a few errands to run such as the produce store, grocery store, and pharmacy.
Greenberg Show is this weekend in Oaks, PA. I am not sure if time will allow me to go. I have some more Accurail kits including the 3 Trainfest kits to build. I have some cars that I renumbered that need to be sealed. I am also planning to run some trains and continue with organizing my collection.
I hope everybody has a good day.

Greetings, gang.
Cloudy and 23 in the remote reaches of northern Iowa this morning. Maybe 30 by this afternoon with a 20% chance of freezing rain or snow overnight.
It's been a very lazy week for me. I even skipped the gym yesterday. Just didn't feel like going. Today is of course laundry day. Gonna try to get up enough energy to maybe make a trip to Marshall's and Hobby Lobby. They are right next door to each other. Late this afternoon I'll be heading to my grandson's house for a birthday party for one of his sons. That will be pretty much the extent of my activities for the weekend.
All stay safe.

Hello friends
My wife is slowly recovering but she still has limited use of her arms and legs. Her legs are strong enough we think she could walk with a walker but her arms are still too weak. She is in an excellent rehab facility and gaining function every day but not exactly in leaps and bounds, however she has progressed enough that she can see the results. The insurance has approved another 14 days in the facility and could extend it if she is progressing well.
The food is good and the staff is wonderful.
Weather is snowy and cold but it is January after all.
Cheers
Charlie

Good morning folks
It is 27 currently with an expected high of 43. Looks like we are back to normal on the project site after a week of being shut down due to the cold and wind, along with a lack of certain materials.
Charlie, good to hear your wife is progressing. Prayers for continuing progression.
We did not get as much done as we had planned this weekend. We started on the inside Christmas decorations but did get as far as we hoped. The wife’s bunion was acting up which limited her mobility somewhat. On Saturday we ran our errands to the post office, produce store, and grocery store. It was after walking around the produce store that her foot started bothering her so she sat out the grocery store. We found out that the high wind last week destroyed one of our outside Christmas decorations. It was a 6 foot lighted metal tree. The wind snapped it off its base. Since the lights had given me issues this year, I figured this might be its last year any way. It was at least 7 or 8 years old.
I did not get as much done with the trains either. I did run some trains and tune up some rolling stock. The big thing I did was organize and enter into my inventory program a bunch of passenger cars that have been sitting around for months. My order of more metal wheels and Kadee couplers arrived so I can get back to building Accurail kits. I also have at four Accurail cars that need some sort of repair such as adding back a brake wheel or a stirrup.
Tonight we will be putting more decorations away. I hope to continue tuning up some rolling stock and perhaps build a kit or two and repair the kits that need it.
I hope everybody has a good day.

Greetings, gang.
It's a brisk 4 degrees in my back yard this morning. The sky is clear and it may get to the mid teens by this afternoon. 40s for the end of the week but back in the freezer for the weekend.
Rather quiet weekend for me but I did have a lot of fun at a birthday party for one of the great-grandsons on Saturday evening. Basketball games tonight and Thursday night and that's about the last of the sporting events until spring when soccer starts.
Continuing prayers for the people affected by the fires.
Gas was $2.85 yesterday.
All stay safe.
