Greetings, gang.

Cloudy and 34 going to cloudy and 38 with 25 mph winds. Then below freezing for the remainder of the week.

I did get the car washed again yesterday and it looks ok. Also got the windows clean on the inside. Surprising how much scum accumulates even though there is no smoking in the car. This morning is a trip to the gym and possibly a trip to Walmart. After lunch I need to vacuum out the car.

Charlie - glad to hear your wife is home and prayers for her continued improvement.

All stay safe.

Good afternoon folks

It is a comfortable 44 with a high of 49. What a difference a week makes.

It has been a rough week. Early in the week we had our heater replaced and have been dealing with a bunch of teething issues with it. We also had a section of leaking pipe replaced. Of course now that we a fully functional heater it is getting warmer. Just to make thing even more fun, I have come with cold and have been running a low grade temperature since Wednesday. Today is the best I have felt in a week. Between the heater work and my illness, I did not get any Christmas decorations in from the outside as I had planned.

Also, on Saturday we traveled to the Bridesburg section of Philadelphia to a cat café where we adopted two kittens. As strange as this may sound as a family, we needed a day with a bunch of cats and kittens to lift our spirits. Traveling to the café was somewhat problematic since it was located about half a mile from the plane crash site. We had to deal with extra traffic from the road closures and I suspect ghouls driving to see the scene. I was able to take another route home that avoided the area.

Since the layout is in the basement with the heater replacement, I did not get much model railroading done. I was able to run some trains on Saturday and Sunday.

Tonight I hope to finally get those decorations down. I would like to run some trains and maybe add some more trees and foliage to the layout.

Charlie that is great news about your wife coming home. Prayers for her full recovery.

I hope everybody has a good day.

Yup - Like Tom said, It's nice here for a change.  But as always happens, we're expecting ice in a few days....

Anyone looking for HO cars and some engines? Challenger?  Big Boy???

A local auction house has a lot listed!!
https://briggsauction.bidwrangler.com/ui...y=ho+scale
If the link doesn't work, just put HO Scale in the search bar and hit enter

They ship too!!!!!  I've bought a few things from them over the years.
Very honest and reliable!!

Greetings, gang.

It's a cool and clear morning in the remote reaches of northern Iowa. 6 degrees at the moment with a predicted high in the mid teens. Icing predicted for tomorrow.

Those plans I had for yesterday went ahead without me. Didn't do a darn thing all day except watch movies or read. Today isn't looking very promising either. Woke up about 4:30 and couldn't go back to sleep. Finally dragged myself out of bed around 5. Looks to be a long day.

A friend gave me a box of books to read a while back. Slowly working my way through them when I discovered one from the Gogama, Ontario library. i would love to know how a book from a library a thousand miles away wound up here.

Tom - hope you're feeling better today.

All stay safe.

WEDNESDAY 2/5/25
Hello Blue
We have sun. 19/27 for the day. No snow on the ground. Overnight into Thursday could be nasty though.
We have no plans for this day. Did grocery shopping yesterday morning. Paid $9+ for a 24 pk of eggs. Gas is still around 3 dollars.

Greetings, gang.

Skies are clearing and the temperature (hopefully) will be rising soon. 19 now with maybe the mid 30s for a high but with winds near 35 mph it won't feel all that nice. I did have some snow pellets and freezing drizzle yesterday afternoon and evening but an application of ice melt has made my sidewalks safe again.

Not much going on around here this week. I haven't heard officially from my granddaughter yet but her kids' school website shows a music program scheduled for next week. In other news there's a train show in Sioux City, IA, this weekend but there's also snow in the forecast so a trip decision will not be made until Saturday morning.

Gas was $3.09 when I was out and about yesterday.

All stay safe.

We were the same way last month
we went over 20 days without it
Other times we get 2 or 3 days of Sun, the rest rain.

Greetings, gang.

19 going to maybe the mid 30s again today.

Not much going on today. Tomorrow there's a train show in South Sioux City, NE about 2 hours west of me. There's also a prediction of snow for tomorrow of "less than half an inch." There have been many times when I have had to remove several inches of "less than half an inch" so attendance will be a last minute decision in the morning. It;s also open on Sunday but most of the good stuff will probably be gone tomorrow.

All stay safe.
